This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Sept. 22

1:40 a.m.: Casey Scott Mullins, 31, of the 1200 block of West Fifth Street, was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. An officer stopped Mullins’ vehicle near East Broadway Boulevard and South Mildred Avenue. Following investigation at the scene, he arrested Mullins on a DWI charge.

5:40 a.m.: Angie M. Steeves, 37, was arrested on a charge of trespassing. Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of South Grand Avenue in reference to a trespassing call. They spoke with the suspect, Steeves, and confirmed through dispatch that she had a no-trespass warning for the residence. The resident said he wanted to pursue charges against her, so the officers took her into custody.

2:40 p.m.: Jourdan D. Diehl, 20, of the 400 block of West Broadway Boulevard, was arrested on a felony charge of stealing. A complainant reported the theft of a gun from a vehicle in the 3000 block of Keith Allen Drive on Sept. 7. The victim provided surveillance video showing the suspect and the theft. On Saturday, an officer observed and arrested the suspect, Diehl, in the 400 block of West Broadway Boulevard.

7:40 p.m.: Nicholas Vaughn, 37, of Sedalia, received a municipal court summons for a charge of peace disturbance. An officer was dispatched to the 1600 block of East Fifth Street for a report of peace disturbance. He spoke with the reporting person and the suspect, Vaughn. The reporting person said Vaughn started yelling at him because his truck was blocking the sidewalk. He also reportedly threatened him with his dog. The officer spoke with Vaughn, who was uncooperative, and issued him a court summons.

9 p.m.: Morgan T. Foote, 20, of the 900 block of Westwood Avenue, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer spoke with Foote in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard and remembered he had a suspended license and a failure to appear warrant from Sedalia. He gathered Foote’s information and completed a computer check through dispatch. Dispatch confirmed he had a suspended license and the verified the warrant.

Sept. 23

10:40 a.m.: Melvin Leon Ward Jr., 35, of the 400 block of North Grand Avenue, was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license and exceeding the speed limit. An officer was conducting speed enforcement on Saline Street. He observed Ward’s vehicle traveling 34 mph in a 20-mph zone. The officer stopped the car and ran Ward’s information through dispatch, who advised his license was suspended.

10:55 a.m.: Kevin W. Powell, 53, of the 1000 block of West Third Street, was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license and failure to register annually with the Missouri Department of Revenue. An officer stopped Powell’s vehicle near South Park Avenue and West Main Street for expired registration. After checking Powell’s information, the officer found his license was suspended.

6:25 p.m.: Jackie L. Neth, 38, of the 200 block of South Quincy Avenue, was arrested on a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault. Officers responded to the 200 block of South Quincy Avenue for a domestic disturbance. Both the victim and the suspect were uncooperative, but the officers were able to determine a primary aggressor. They subsequently arrested Neth.

9:40 p.m.: Robert J. Ingersoll, 30, of the 1300 block of East Boonville Street, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer conducted a traffic stop on Ingersoll’s vehicle near East Broadway Boulevard and South Marvin Avenue for expired vehicle registration. A computer check revealed his license was suspended.

Sept. 17

2:10 p.m.: A victim came to the police station to report a sexual assault, which occurred in the 1000 block of East Fifth Street.

Sept. 22

12:15 p.m.: A subject called to report her vehicle stolen from a business within the past 30 days or so. The victim said the vehicle was parked at the business for repairs. She drove by the business Saturday and noticed the vehicle wasn’t parked in its usual space. The victim contacted the business, which assumed she had picked up the vehicle because the keys were gone. The vehicle was last known to be at the business in early to mid-August.

9:10 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 300 block of West 10th Street for a theft report. The victim said someone stole her laptop from inside the residence sometime between noon and the time of the report. The laptop cost about $500, and she provided a few names of people who could have taken the computer. The computer was returned to the owner the next day, but the officer hadn’t yet made contact with the suspect at the time of the report.

Sept. 23

1:10 p.m.: A subject called to report someone had thrown a brick through his office window. The complainant said he stopped by his office in the 700 block of South Massachusetts Avenue and noticed broken glass and a brick nearby. He estimated the damage occurred between 4 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Sunday. The damage could cost more than $750 to repair. No suspect information was available at the time of the report.

11:20 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1900 block of South Stewart Avenue for a report of a stolen firearm. The victim reported someone took a handgun from an attached garage sometime earlier in the day. The complainant valued the firearm at about $300.

Sept. 22

4:35 p.m.: Deputies took a report of an assault that occurred in the 3500 block of South Grand Avenue that resulted in a minor injury. An investigation continues into the report.

Arrests

Sept. 21

8:50 p.m.: William L. Vinkavich, 56, of Versailles, was arrested in Morgan County on charges of driving while intoxicated, failure to have lighted head lamps and not having insurance.

Sept. 22

10:20 p.m.: Heather M. Miller, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving resulting in a crash, two counts of leaving the scene of a crash, and not wearing a seat belt.

Sept. 23

1:30 a.m.: Matthew P. Bishop, 33, of California, was arrested in Moniteau County on charges of driving with a revoked license and failure to display valid license plates.
