Morgan crash leaves three injured

Three people were hurt in a single-vehicle crash in Morgan County at 2:20 p.m. Friday.

Zelma M. Jones, 77, of Stover, was driving east on state Route 52 700 feet east of Route T when she traveled off the right side of the road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. Her vehicle struck an embankment and a sign.

Jones and two passengers, Scott T. Jones, 52, and Timmy A. Jones, 55, both of Stover, sustained minor injuries. All were wearing seat belts during the crash and went by ambulance to Bothwell Regional Health Center.

Man ejected off of U.S. 50

A man is in serious condition following an overturn crash at 5:20 p.m. Friday in Johnson County.

Obadiah D. Campbell, 25, of Bland, was eastbound on U.S. Route 50 a half mile west of Northwest 250th Road when he began to lose control of the towed unit attached to his vehicle, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

The towed unit began to swerve, and his vehicle started to slide off the right side of the road. Campbell returned to the road and crossed the center line. His towed unit overturned and traveled off the right side of the highway.

The vehicle and towed unit struck a fence, causing the car to overturn. Campbell, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was ejected. His vehicle came to a rest on its wheels while the towed unit landed upside down off of the south side of U.S. 50.

Campbell suffered serious injuries in the accident. A Life Flight helicopter flew him to Kansas City for treatment at Research Medical Center.

Sedalia woman falls asleep at wheel

Two Sedalians were hurt in a single-vehicle crash Monday in Pettis County.

At 6:45 a.m., Elizabeth P. Meador, 27, was driving south on U.S. Route 65 south of Claycomb Road when she fell asleep, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Her vehicle traveled off the right side of the road where it struck an embankment, went airborne and struck a tree.

Meador and a passenger, Kevin H. Lee, 31, were wearing seat belts during the crash. Both received treatment of minor injuries at the scene.

Child injured in Pettis crash

A 6-year-old girl was hurt in a Pettis County collision at 1:50 p.m. Monday.

The accident occurred as Larry D. Hawkins, 78, of Sweet Springs, attempted to cross Winchester Drive near U.S. Route 50 from a private parking lot, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Hawkins’ vision was obstructed, blocking his view of an oncoming vehicle traveling south. The two vehicles collided as he drove into the path of the southbound car, driven by Ciaira F. Cain, 36, of Knob Noster.

A child in Cain’s vehicle, Ziva Cain, 6, of Knob Noster, sustained minor injuries in the collision. She went in a private vehicle to Bothwell Regional Health Center.
