Benton County Treasurer Richard Renno was arrested Monday, June 9, by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Renno, 62, of Lincoln, faces charges of attempting to entice a child and sexual misconduct involving a minor.
According to a probable cause document, investigators received information in August 2024 that alleged an adult male made sexual advances through the social media platform Grindr.
The document states a MSHP sergeant was assigned to the case April 24. The sergeant interviewed witnesses who provided information and a screenshot of Renno’s face and a nude photograph that was sent through Grindr.
Court documents go on to state the image was positively identified by a family member at Renno’s address.
During an interview with the sergeant Monday, Renno admitted to having used Grindr for 10 years. Court documents state he also told the sergeant that he had conversions online or on the Grindr app with minors under the age of 18 two or three times.
Renno told the sergeant he recognized the profile picture,and admitted to have sent the nude photo to people.
Renno is being held in the Benton County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
Hickory County Prosecutor Daniel B. Dysart has been appointed as a special prosecutor in the case.
