BRHC Auxiliary

The Bothwell Regional Health Center Auxiliary Board did not meet for its regular monthly meeting in January due to the Auxiliary Gift Shop being closed in January and February.

The last day the gift shop was open was Dec. 31, 2020. The total volunteer hours worked in December were 618 hours. During this time Shirley Kindle received her 700 volunteer hour pin.

The Amazing Volunteer for the month of January is Sandy Mayfield. Mayfield joined the Auxiliary in 2009. Thank you, Sandy, for a job well done.

We are glad Bothwell Regional Health Center is open and serving the needs of the community. The Auxiliary is looking for volunteers and is planning to open the gift shop again as soon as possible. For more information, call Sara at 660-827-0343.

The Auxiliary also wants to give a huge “thank you” to all the staff working at Bothwell. This is a difficult time for everyone and it is grateful to all the workers for their dedication.

Please wear masks, practice social distancing, wash hands, and stay home if sick.

There will be no Auxiliary Board meeting in February.

Grow and Glow Garden Club FGCM

The Grow and Glow Garden Club FGCM met virtually via Zoom at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 19 with eight participants. Barbara Harrison, club president, conducted the meeting.

She announced that the state has canceled the annual Blooming Bus Tour. She also shared that the club’s poinsettia decorations at the Tipton City Park were taken down and stored.

The FGCM Convention will be held virtually May 5. Cynthia Brodersen and Kendra Johnson agreed to be delegates with Linda Dahl as alternate.

An informative program relating to Missouri birds was presented by Harrison and Dahl.  Harrison had assembled a Chickadee Pudding, bird suet recipe and listed the ingredients and steps she followed. The Mountain View Garden Club had shared their recipe in The Garden Forum magazine fall issue. The recipe made six suet cakes, and the cost was approximately 60 cents a cake for each bird treat. Linda Dahl reviewed several bird books from her personal library and described their general format. She followed with pictures of an impressive variety of birds she had photographed around her lake property. She included stained glass bird pictures constructed by her mother, Lucille Arnst. This was concluded with a question and answer period.

Appreciation was expressed to Johnson for the beautifully designed yearbooks she had delivered to several members.

The January Price James Library arrangement was provided by JoAnn Collier. Johnson will be responsible for the February arrangement. It will be decided in February whether to have a virtual club meeting or meet in person.

Those interested in becoming a member of the group may call 660-433-2366 for more information.
