Six-year-old girl from Leeton injured in deer strike
A six-year-old girl from Leeton suffered moderate injuries at 8:40 a.m. Thursday in a Johnson County accident.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Lyman D. Fleming, 71, of Leeton was driving a 2014 Can-Am south on state Highway 13 when he entered a curve in the roadway and struck a deer. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and ejected Fleming, who was not wearing a helmet.
The young girl was wearing a helmet, and was transported by Johnson County ambulance District to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
