Man sustains injuries in head-on collision

One man sustained minor injuries in a head-on collision at 8:41 p.m. Aug. 2 at U.S. Highway 50 and Marshall Avenue in Sedalia. 

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Richard Watson, 66, of Plainfield, New Jersey, a passenger of a vehicle driven by Ryan N. Edbank, 29, of Sedalia, was injured when their eastbound vehicle turned into the path of Devon Quick, 23, of Tipton, who was westbound. Edbank was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander; Quick was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse. 

Watson was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center by Pettis County Ambulance District. 

La Monte woman killed in Pettis County

Virginia T. Taylor, 84, of La Monte, was killed and Thomas W. Hurst, 40, of Marshall, sustained serious injuries at 9:50 p.m. Aug. 2 in a vehicle accident at state Route Y and State Highway 127.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Taylor, who was driving a 2018 GMC Acadia, was westbound when she drove through a stop sign. Hurst, who was driving a 2022 Mack Pinnacle, then struck the right side of Taylor’s vehicle. Both vehicles drove off the right side of the roadway and overturned. 

Hurst was transported by University of Missouri Air Ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia.

Taylor was pronounced deceased at the scene at 10 p.m. and transported by the Pettis County Coroner to the Coroner’s Office.

Man sustains moderate injuries in Lafayette County

Chad E. Cloud, 50, of Independence, sustained moderate injuries at 1 a.m. Aug. 3 in a one-vehicle accident at U.S. Highway 24 and state Route BB in Lafayette County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Cloud was driving a 2019 Ram truck when he drove off the side off the north side of the roadway and struck an embankment and culvert. His vehicle came to rest in the ditch off the north side of the road. 

Cloud was transported by the Higginsville Fire Department to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.    

Two people sustain moderate injuries in Henry County

Pamela A. Hereford, 66, and her passenger Jennifer A. Dickman, 46, both of Lakewood, Colorado, sustained moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 2 a.m. Aug. 3 at Missouri Highway 7 and Northwest 501 Road in Henry County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Hereford, who was driving a 2017 Toyota Corolla, drove off the roadway and struck a sign. 

Hereford was transported by Life Flight Eagle to Research Medical Center in Kansas City. Dickman was transported by Golden Valley EMS to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton.
