Two hurt in Benton crash
Two people were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 9 p.m. Monday in Benton County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Tarique T. Maxwell, 19, of Kansas City, was driving west on state Route 7 when he ran the stop sign at U.S. Route 65. His vehicle became airborne and struck a stop sign. His vehicle then returned to the road before striking a telephone pole and coming to rest facing northbound.
Maxwell, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center with moderate injuries. A 16-year-old female passenger, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was seeking her own treatment.
