Whiteman AFB woman in serious condition after Johnson County crash

Amy A. Sjoholm, 35, of Whiteman Air Force Base, sustained serious injuries at 10:40 a.m. Friday in a Johnson County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Sjoholm was northbound on Route 23, north of Northeast 500 Road, in a 2020 Tesla Model 3 when she looked down at her cats, which were walking around the front seat. She traveled off the left side of the roadway, impacted an embankment, became airborne, and overturned.

She was wearing a seat belt and was transported to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.

Five hurt in Morgan County accident

A 13-year-old female and Brandley L. Stilfield, 38, both of Barnett, sustained moderate injuries; a 15-year-old female from Barnett sustained serious injuries, and a 15-year-old female from Barnett sustained minor injuries at 9:41 a.m. Saturday in a Morgan County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Stilfield was driving west on Route 52 east of Jefferson Street in a 2008 Toyota Sienna when he struck the rear of a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado driven by James M. Lutz, 76, of Tipton, who was stopped to make a turn.

Everyone was wearing a seat belt. Those in the Toyota were transported by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach. Lutz was transported by private vehicle to St. Mary's Medical Center in Blue Springs.
