Two from Edwards injured in Benton accident 

Joe J. McDowell, 62, of Edwards, received minor injuries and Melissa A. McDowell, 52, also of Edwards, received moderate injuries at 7:51 p.m. Saturday in a Benton County accident. 

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Arturo C. Mata, 51, of Kansas City, was driving south on Highway M near state Route 7 in a 2003 Ford F150 when he crossed the center line and struck the McDowell's 2009 Nissan Murano as it was turning right onto Highway M. 

Although everyone involved was wearing a seat belt, the McDowell's were transported to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach. 

Clinton woman hurt in Henry accident

Shandi R. Bowman, 34, of Clinton, received minor injuries at 5 p.m. Saturday in a Henry County accident. 

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a 2008 Pontiac driven by Bowman was headed south on state Route 7 when it slowed and was struck in the rear by a 2008 Dodge driven by Micheal D. Huggins, 52, of Clinton. 

While both drivers were wearing seat belts, Bowman was transported by private vehicle to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton.

Two injured in Henry County accident

Terry D. Elliot, 25, of Crocker, and a 9-year-old male of Raytown received moderate injuries at 6:39 p.m. Saturday in Henry County accident. 

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred when a 2001 Yamaha driven by Elliott failed to stop at a stop sign and pulled into the path of a 1996 Chevrolet S10 driven by Tristan G. Isabel, 19, of Windsor, who was driving south on Northeast 300 Road at Northeast 101 Road. 

Neither the juvenile male nor Elliott was wearing a helmet. Isabel was wearing a seat belt. Elliott and the 9-year-old were transported to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton.

Warrensburg man killed in Johnson accident

Ethan M. Matthews, 25, of Warrensburg, was killed at 7 p.m. Saturday in a Johnson County accident. 

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Matthews was driving south on Northwest Route H in a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado when he traveled off the right side of the road and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to cross to the left side of the roadway and overturn. 

He was pronounced dead on the scene by Coroner Ben J. Minx. 

Leeton motorcyclist injured in trail riding accident

Kent L. Smith, 56, of Leeton, received moderate injuries at 1:30 a.m. Sunday in a Johnson County accident. 

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Smith was driving a motorcycle west on Rock Island Trail near County Road Southwest 151 when he struck a tree laying across the trail and overturned. 

Smith, who was exempt from wearing a helmet, was transported by Johnson County Ambulance District to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.

Illinois couple injured in Johnson motorcycle accident

Virginia M. Anderson, 68, of Pekin, Illinois, received moderate injuries, and Paul D. Anderson, 69, also of Pekin, Illinois, received serious injuries at 1:22 p.m. Sunday in a Johnson County accident. 

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Paul Anderson was driving south on a 2021 Indian touring motorcycle when he failed to observe a roundabout and traveled off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle returned to the roadway, struck a curb, overturned, and ejected both occupants, who were wearing helmets. 

Both were transported by Johnson County Ambulance District to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg. 

Two seriously injured in Morgan County accident

Brianna L. Gonzagowski, 19, of Versailles, and Anthony R. Tigar, 26, of Jefferson City, were both seriously injured at 6:23 p.m. Saturday in a Morgan County accident. 

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Tigar was driving south on Route D at Simms Road in a 2000 Ford F250 when an unknown vehicle defect caused the vehicle's accelerator to lock. The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to cross the center of the road, travel off the left side of the roadway, travel through a field and onto a residential property. The vehicle then struck a residential deck. 

Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt. Gonzagowski was transported to University Hospital in Columbia by MU Life Flight. Tigar was transported to University Hospital in Columbia by Mid-Mo Ambulance District. 

Two from North Carolina seriously injured in I-70 accident

John M. Gudnason, 45, and Elizabeth Damron, 43, both of Matthews, North Carolina, were seriously injured at 3:55 a.m. Saturday in a Saline County accident. 

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Gudnason was driving west on I-70 at exit 62 in a 2017 International Harvester 4000 when he traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a road sign, traveled onto the exit ramp and overturned. 

The occupants, who were not wearing seat belts, were transported by Sweet Springs Emergency Medical Services to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

Intoxicated motorcyclist seriously injured in Saline County crash

Douglas G. Henke, 55, of Marshall, was seriously injured at 9:54 p.m. in a Saline County crash. 

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Henke was driving south on state Route 240 on a 2011 Harley-Davidson when he drove off the right side of the road, overcorrected, and overturned. 

He was not wearing a helmet and was transported to University Hospital in Columbia.
