Grandview man in serious condition after Henry accident

Thomas W. Cowherd, 31, of Grandview, sustained serious injuries at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday in a Henry County accident. 

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Cowherd was traveling west on Route Z east of Route NN in a 1999 Ford when he attempted to avoid an animal on the roadway, causing the vehicle to travel off the roadway. The driver overcorrected and the vehicle crossed the opposite side of the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned.

Cowherd was not wearing a seat belt and was taken by EMS to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg. 

Four hurt, one seriously in Henry accident

Doreen M. Gibbons, 58, of Clinton, sustained serious injuries while Danna L. Lemkuehler, 52, of Clinton, a 4-year-old female from Urich, and an infant male from Urich sustained minor injuries at 7:52 a.m. Tuesday in Henry County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred as Gibbons failed to yield at a stop sign as she was northbound on Route 7 at Route U in a 2021 Kia. She pulled into the path of a 2012 Ford driven by Lemkuehler and was struck.

Gibbons, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported by Air EMS to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence. Lehmkuhler was not wearing a seat belt and was taken by EMS to Cass County Medical Center in Harrisonville. The juveniles, who were buckled up, were taken by private vehicle to Cass Regional Medical Center as well.

Sedalia teen in serious condition after ATV accident

A 13-year-old Sedalia boy is in serious condition after a 2:40 p.m. Friday ATV accident in Pettis County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the teen was traveling west along U.S. Highway 65 and turned west quickly, causing the vehicle to overturn.

The youth was not wearing a helmet and was transported by air ambulance to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
