Man hurt in Pettis wreck

A Corder man was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 7:08 a.m. Friday in Pettis County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, James R. Brooks, 55, was driving a 2011 Kenworth west on state Route D, 1.9 miles east of Highway 127, when his vehicle traveled off the road and struck two Missouri Department of Transportation signs and a concrete culvert. The vehicle came to rest off the roadway.

Brooks, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Pettis County Ambulance District to University Hospital in Columbia with minor injuries.

Columbia man seriously injured in Benton

A Columbia man suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 12:16 p.m. Saturday in Benton County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Ricky R. Young, 33, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet S10 east on Highway BB at Allen Road when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, began to skid, returned to the road, and crossed the center of the road. The vehicle then crossed back over the center of the road, traveled off the right side of the road, rolled over and struck a fence.

Young, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken by Life Flight Eagle to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.

Man seriously injured in Henry motorcycle crash

An Adrian woman suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Henry County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Paul D. Matthes, 67, of Clinton, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Impala east on Highway 18 near Northwest 401 Road when he entered into the path of a westbound 2009 Harley-Davidson driven by Jeremy A. Cassaday, 45, of Adrian.

Cassaday, who was wearing a helmet, was taken by Life Flight to University Hospital in Columbia.

Two hurt in Benton accident

Two St. Joseph men were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 4:24 p.m. Saturday in Benton County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Darrel S. Brown, 36, was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Impala south on Highway 7 south of Polk Street when he suffered a medical event, causing the vehicle to travel off the right side of the road and strike an embankment. 

Brown and a passenger, 18-year-old Preston S. Brown, were taken by Warsaw-Lincoln Ambulance District to Bothwell Regional Health Center. Darrel suffered minor injuries, while Preston had moderate injuries. The report indicates both were wearing a seat belt.

Teen hurt in Pettis County accident

A Sedalia teenager was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 6:45 a.m. Sunday in Pettis County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Gunnar A. Fletcher-Zaremba, 19, of Sedalia, was driving a 2005 Nissan Altima south on U.S. Highway 65 north of Trickum Road. He was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle began to skid and traveled off the left side of the road. It returned to the road, crossed the center line, and traveled off the left side of the road. The vehicle then struck a guardrail and began spinning. After impact, the vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and came to rest in the median.

A 17-year-old male was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center with moderate injuries. The report indicates neither the driver nor the occupant was wearing a seat belt.

Fletcher-Zaremba was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance and driving while intoxicated (drugs) with physical injury. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.
