Lee's Summit motorcyclist in serious condition after Benton accident

Corey W. Wheeler, 45, of Lee's Summit, sustained serious injuries at 7:23 p.m. Saturday in a Benton County accident. 

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Wheeler was driving east on Macks Camp Avenue on a 2014 Yamaha when he lost control, over-corrected, and overturned.

He was not wearing a helmet and was transported by Life Flight Eagle to KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. 

Blue Springs motorcyclist in serious condition after Johnson accident

Robert A. Elliot, 65, of Blue Springs, sustained serious injuries at 6:10 p.m. Saturday in a Johnson County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Elliott was driving west on Northwest Highway 50 at Northwest 1201 Road on a 2014 Harley-Davidson when he failed to negotiate a curve, causing the vehicle to travel off the right side of the roadway and strike a culvert. It then went airborne and struck a road sign, and overturned, ejecting the driver. 

He was transported by Johnson County Ambulance District to Research Medical Center in Kansas City.

Two from Ashland hurt in Morgan accident

Candy A. Casteel, 47, and Kathy A. Weathers, 68, both of Ashland, sustained minor injuries at 4:41 p.m. Saturday in a Morgan County accident. 

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the two were in a 2017 Nissan Rogue eastbound on U.S. 50 at Route A and were stopped in traffic for a vehicle waiting to make a left turn when they were struck in the rear by a 2016 Dodge Charger driven by Tayton M. Knight, 20, of Osceola. 

Everyone was wearing a seat belt. Driver Castillo and occupant Weathers were transported to University Hospital in Columbia by private vehicle.

Two hurt and I-70 accident in Saline County

Stephina Napoles, 30, received moderate injuries, and Fredi Casiano Calleja, 47, of Lexington, Kentucky, received minor injuries at 1:55 p.m. Sunday in a Saline County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Calleja was driving a 2007 GMC east on I-70 at mile marker 83 when he lost a wheel, causing it to travel off the road and strike a guardrail, overturn and strike a tree.

Both passengers were wearing seat belts and were transported to University Hospital in Columbia by Saline County Ambulance District.
