One killed, one seriously injured in Moniteau accident
Bobby G. Hirt, 41, of Boonville, was killed, and Tony J. Smith, 64, of Holts Summit, was seriously injured at 7:18 p.m. Monday in a Moniteau County accident.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a 2009 Chevrolet HHR with an unknown driver was westbound on U.S. 50 near Springer Hill Road and crossed the center of the roadway. He struck an oncoming 2006 Kenworth T800 driven by Tony J. Smith, of Holts Summit.
Smith was wearing a seat belt and was transported by ambulance to St Mary's Hospital in Blue Springs.
Hirt was pronounced dead on scene by Moniteau County Coroner Marty Ramsdell. It is unknown if he was wearing a seat belt.
