Benton County Sheriff, wife seriously injured in motorcycle crash
Benton County Sheriff Eric L. Knox and his wife were seriously injured in a crash at 5:35 p.m. Sunday in Benton County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Knox, 48, of Lincoln, was driving a motorcycle southbound on state Route 7 on Mile Long Bridge when the vehicle’s back tire began to shred, causing Knox to lose control. The vehicle then overturned and struck the bridge, ejecting both occupants.
Eric and his wife, Joy R. Knox, 50, of Lincoln, both suffered serious injuries and were taken to University Hospital in Columbia by Life Flight.
Two injured in Johnson crash
Two individuals were injured in a crash at 12:38 p.m. Friday in Johnson County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Emme E. Cook, 85, of Kansas, was driving northbound on state Route AA and preparing to make a right-hand turn onto U.S. Route 50 when she failed to stop at the stop sign. Cook traveled into the path of an eastbound vehicle on U.S. Route 50 driven by Thomas Z. Wallace, 27, of Blue Springs. Wallace attempted to stop and struck the front of Cook’s vehicle. Both vehicles crossed the center of the roadway before Wallace’s hauled unit rotated and struck the rear of Cook’s vehicle.
Both suffered moderate injuries and were taken to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg by the Johnson County Ambulance District.
One seriously injured, arrested in Johnson crash
A man was seriously injured and arrested in a crash at 12:40 a.m. Saturday in Johnson County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Tylan M. Boissoneau, 18, of Kearney, was driving southbound on state Route 13 at Hawthorne Boulevard when his vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck a curb, crossed the road, struck another curb, crossed the road again, struck another curb and overturned.
Boissoneau suffered serious injuries and was taken to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg by Johnson County Ambulance District.
Boissoneau was arrested at 12:51 a.m. for driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.
Two injured in Saline crash
Two individuals were injured in a crash at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in Saline County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Roland W. Leimkeuhler, 82, of Gilliam, was driving northbound on state Route D at 279th Road when he slowed to avoid hitting a combine. He lost control of his vehicle and it traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned.
Roland suffered minor injuries and was transported to University Hospital in Columbia by ambulance. His passenger, Margaret C. Leimkuehler, 80, of Gilliam, suffered serious injuries and was taken to University Hospital by helicopter.
Two injured in Johnson crash
Two individuals were injured in a crash at 9:23 p.m. Sunday in Johnson County.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Cory G. Walters, 26, of Independence, was driving southbound on state Route Z, approaching U.S. Route 50, when he abruptly applied the brakes, causing the vehicle to skid. He failed to negotiate the curve, causing the vehicle to travel off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle continued through the median and across the eastbound lanes of U.S. Route 50 before coming to a rest off the south side of the roadway.
Walters and his passenger, Robert L. Marks, 31, of Independence, both suffered minor injuries and were taken to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg by Johnson County Ambulance District.
