Hughesville teen killed in Pettis accident

A 17-year-old boy from Hughesville was killed, a 9-year-old girl from Sedalia sustained minor injuries, and Jose L. Caraveo Holguin, 31, of Sedalia, sustained minor injuries at 5:50 a.m. Monday in a Pettis County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by the 17-year-old began to skid and crossed the centerline of the road, striking a 2004 Dodge Dakota driven by Holguin. 

The 17-year-old was wearing a seat belt. He was pronounced dead by Pettis County Ambulance District personnel under the direction of Dr. Thomas Conder of Bothwell Regional Health Center.

Holguin and the 9-year-old, who were wearing seat belts, were transported by private vehicle to University Hospital in Columbia.

Two motorcyclists in serious condition after Pettis accident

Katherine J. Williams, 32, and Charles E. McGinnis, 50, both of Sedalia, sustained serious injuries at 7:35 p.m. Monday in a Pettis County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, McGinnis and Williams were on a 2014 Harley-Davidson stopped for a red light at U.S. Highway 50 and Sadie Lane when they were struck in the rear of their motorcycle by a 2015 Kia Optima driven by Brady D. Carr, 19, of Clinton. 

Neither motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and were ejected.

McGinnis was taken to University Hospital in Columbia by air ambulance. Williams was transported to University Hospital by Pettis County Ambulance District. 

Marshall teen hurt in Saline accident

A 16-year-old boy from Marshall sustained minor injuries at 5:45 p.m. Monday in a Saline County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, he was driving a 2011 Ford Focus south on Route YY at Highview Avenue when he failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the road, and overturned.

He was wearing a seat belt and was transported by Saline County EMS to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
