Sacred Heart, Cole Camp and Stover are scheduled to host the 2021 Kaysinger Conference Basketball Tournament set to begin Friday, Jan. 29.
Athletic directors released dates, locations and safety guidelines for the annual hoops event Friday.
The Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center, which served as host for the past several years, was not available this season due to COVID-19 safety guidelines.
“We’ve made a decision we think is the best solution to allow the kids to play,” said Sacred Heart athletic director Amanda Blackburn.
Tipton claimed the top seed in the girls bracket, while Smithton earned No. 1 on the boys side.
The conference girls final is scheduled for 7:30 pm. Friday, Feb. 5 and the boys final is slated for 5 p.m. Saturday. Sacred Heart is scheduled to host both matchups.
Tip-offs are scheduled to allow for sanitization between contests. Spectator capacity is limited to 50%, with a ticketing system installed for the finals in Sedalia. Face coverings are required at Sacred Heart and recommended at Cole Camp and Stover.
Live-streaming will be available for each venue. Sacred Heart (Sacred Heart Gremlin Athletics) and Stover (Morgan Co. R‐1 School District) are hosted on YouTube, while Cole Camp (Cole Camp R‐1 School) is hosted on Facebook Live.
Many contests have not been assigned venues. Blackburn said the conference will attempt to pair boys and girls teams of the same school at the same location.
“We are trying to assign locations where it's conducive for boys and girls teams to be at the same location,” Blackburn said. “That’s not going to work for everything. We know once we get into the games it’s just going to be where it is.”
