Posted

WARRENSBURG — At the Board of Education meeting held Tuesday, May 18, the Board approved Dr. Ashley Klein as the new assistant principal at Maple Grove Elementary beginning in the 2021-2022 school year.

Klein currently serves as an instructional coach in the Sedalia School District 200.

Klein has two degrees from the University of Central Missouri — a bachelor’s degree in early childhood and elementary education and a master’s degree in literacy education.

She then earned a doctorate of education in instructional leadership PK-12 from Lindenwood University and is completing coursework at Lindenwood for an educational specialist degree in school administration.

Klein completed her student teaching in the Warrensburg School District at South East Elementary and Ridge View Elementary.

Upon graduation from the University of Central Missouri, she took a position in 2011 with the Sedalia School District.

During her time in the Sedalia School District, she has served as a kindergarten teacher, a first-grade teacher, and beginning in 2018 as an instructional coach.

Her accomplishments within the district also include developing critical thinking, and lesson pacing instructional videos used district-wide and guided reading videos used in several school districts.

In addition, she was a grade level team leader, a member of the building leadership team, and was named in 2018 as the Parkview Elementary Educator of the Year.

In the 2021-2022 school year, the assistant principal position at Maple Grove Elementary will transition from a part-time to a full-time position.

Klein will replace assistant principal Beth Tiller who currently splits her time between Maple Grove Elementary and Martin Warren Elementary.

Next year, Tiller will be the full-time assistant principal at Martin Warren Elementary.

Superintendent Dr. Andy Kohl stated, “As building administration and teachers observed Dr. Klein during her student teaching in the Warrensburg School District, it was obvious that she would be an incredible educator. The added years of classroom experience and leadership opportunities make her an outstanding individual to join Mrs. Trudy Fleeman, who was recently announced as the new Maple Grove principal beginning next school year.”

Klein stated, “I am so excited to begin the next chapter of my teaching career. While attending the University of Central Missouri, I had the opportunity to student teach under amazing teachers at South East and Ridge View Elementary. The experience and knowledge I gained from the Warrensburg R6 School District was invaluable. I am honored to be named the next assistant principal at Maple Grove Elementary. I am looking forward to the future growth and success of all students and staff at Maple Grove Elementary."
