New ENT physician joins Bothwell team

Posted

Bothwell Regional Health Center is pleased to announce Dr. Paul Howard, general otolaryngologist, joined Bothwell Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) March 1. As the only physician at Bothwell ENT, Dr. Paul Howard diagnoses and treats hearing and balance disorders, pediatric ENT issues, nose and sinus problems, sleep apnea, and salivary gland disorders and tumors. He also collaborates on allergy issues with Nurse Practitioner Teri Ficken.

A native of San Antonio, Texas, Howard has more than 35 years of experience as an ears, nose and throat physician. He most recently practiced at Scenic Mountain Medical Center in Big Spring, Texas. Prior to that, he was at ENT of Hawaii LLC in Waimea, Hawaii, and at Grace Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He spent the majority of his career in his own private practice in Lewes, Delaware.

“I like that I see patients of all ages and that ENT care is both surgical and medical where I follow patients for years and help them manage their problems,” Howard said. “I love working, and I love my work. I’m excited to join the Bothwell team and get to know patients and the community.”

Keith Morrow, Bothwell’s vice president for Clinic Operations, said Bothwell has been without an ENT physician for nearly two years and that Howard’s arrival is a welcome one.

“We are incredibly pleased to have recruited Dr. Howard to not only Bothwell ENT but also to the Sedalia community,” Morrow said. “He brings with him a wealth of experience, an incredible work ethic, and an immense dedication to helping people with issues and ailments related to their heads and necks.”

Howard said that while he is not from the area he does have roots close by and that his work ethic was instilled in him at an early age by both his father and grandfather.

“My grandparents lived in California, Missouri, before moving to Jefferson City,” he said. “My father was a pediatrician and worked through 15 years of surgeries and cancer treatments, retiring only one year before his death. My grandfather was an ears, nose and throat specialist in Texas who worked into his 80s. They both showed me the value of hard work and the importance of listening to their patients.”

Howard received his undergraduate degree at Texas State University and attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.

Bothwell ENT is located on the third floor of the Bothwell Healing Arts Center at 3700 W. 10th St. Suite 300 in Sedalia. The phone number is 660-826-5226 and office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
