Due to construction work to place a new water main and valve into service, a water-boil advisory will be in effect from 7 a.m. Monday, April 5 until testing is complete at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 6 along both sides of South Ohio Avenue from East 13th Street to East 20th Street and on East 16th Street from South Ohio Avenue to South Washington Avenue.
Travelers in the area of the intersection of East 16th Street and South Ohio Avenue this weekend, April 2-4, will notice water in the roadway as the water distribution system valve has failed. The failed valve and associated water main were originally scheduled for abandonment on April 5-6. After the valve failed, it was determined that the parts for the scheduled replacement will be available for installation on Monday, April 5 and until that time water will continue to be visible on the roadway.
On Monday, April 5 and Tuesday, April 6 travelers in the area of the East 16th Street and South Ohio Avenue intersection are encouraged to plan for use of alternate routes to avoid delays due to workers and equipment in and along the roadway.
