Posted

Parkview Elementary School fourth grade teacher Alex Smith is the recipient of the Superintendent’s Bell Ringer Award for April.

The monthly award is a way for Superintendent Steve Triplett to honor Sedalia 200 staff members who put the district’s mission statement into action and those who display exemplary effort in celebrating student success. Winners are selected from nominations made by staff members and administrators.

The nominator for Smith wrote: “Alex goes above and beyond each and every day. She makes her lessons fun and engaging. Her students love her and love coming to school because of the relationships she creates with them. She stays after every Friday to run a Girl Talk program, working with the girls on building self-confidence and preparing them for the growth that happens during their teen years. She is a huge asset to our district.”

Triplett said, “Students’ school experience is enhanced when they create meaningful bonds with teachers. Ms. Smith makes her students feel welcome and valued in her classroom, and they know she is invested in their success. The work she is doing with the Girl Talk program also is inspiring. We are fortunate to have her as part of our Tigers team.”

Other nominees for April were: Heather Sparks, Allison Cooper and Ashley Stark, Smith-Cotton High School; Kathy Todd and Jennifer Farrar, Smith-Cotton Junior High; Bob Satnan, Central Office; Ashley Klein, Parkview Elementary; Charli Neth, Heber Hunt Elementary; and Hannah Satnan, Washington Elementary.
