Pettis County continues to see new COVID cases

Pettis County added 151 confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total number of cases to 6,512, according to the Pettis County Health Center. 

According to the Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force briefing issued Monday, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services website is reporting Pettis County has a positivity rate of 13.9% for the past seven days as compared to 15.5% last week with PCR testing. This week there were 717 PCR tests and 425 antigen tests for a total of 1,142. Last week there were 1,247 tests.

According to the Pettis County Health Center, the case counts by age Aug. 19-25 are age 0-4 five cases, 5-12 18 cases, 13-18 eight cases, 19-24 16 cases. 25-29 12 cases. 30-34 17 cases, 35-39 16 cases, 40-44 12 cases. 45-49 11 cases, 50-54 5 cases, 55-59 14 cases, 60-64 nin cases, 65-69 three cases, 70-74 five cases, 75-79 one case, 80+ seven cases.

The briefing states there are 19 individuals hospitalized at Bothwell Regional Health Center, with six patients being on a ventilator. The DHSS website now reports 87 deaths in Pettis County, up from 83 last week. A report was received this week of the death of another Pettis County resident under the age of 60. 

“Pettis County has now vaccinated approximately 38.4% of the population with at least one dose. According to the state website, 16,261 Pettis County residents have received one dose and 13.958 are considered fully vaccinated which is approximately 33% of the population,” the briefing said. “Pettis County is falling behind the state rate of 51.7% with at least one dose and 44% fully vaccinated. The state is reporting 62.7% of the population over 18 has at least one dose of vaccine and 54.9% are fully vaccinated.” 

For Pettis County, 47.3% of the population 18+ has at least one dose and 42.3% are fully vaccinated. As of Aug. 27, there are 1,161 of an estimated 3,457, 12-17-year-olds who have started vaccination, which is 33.5%, and 477 or 13.7% fully vaccinated. This week 645 doses of vaccine were given as compared to 621 doses of vaccine given to Pettis County residents last week. 

Vaccines are available at AFC Urgent Care, some local pharmacies, at many community events as well as Katy Trail Community Health, Bothwell Regional Health Center and Pettis County Health Center. All vaccines are free.

According to the briefing, a third dose is available to those individuals with a weakened immune system due to illness or medications. 

Pettis County Health Center has regular walk-in clinics from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Vaccinations will be available from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursdays and noon to 3 p.m. Fridays. First doses are available as well as second doses for those unable to make their second dose appointment. Call 660-827-1130 to register but appointments are not required.

Drive-thru COVID-19 testing is available at the Healing Arts Center, 3700 W. 10th St. in Sedalia. There is no cost to patients. Hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. People must register before arriving at the testing location.  

Only standard PCR tests will be given in drive-thru testing. People with COVID symptoms may see a provider in the Walk In Clinic to see if a rapid test is recommended. 

Bothwell will offer vaccine clinics from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1 at Bothwell Healing Arts Center on the second floor. Pfizer doses one and two will be offered. People may walk in, however, appointments are encouraged by calling 660-829-8888 or scheduling in Bothwell’s patient portal, MyBothwellHealth at www.brhc.org/portal or in the MHealth app.

People may walk in from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays at the Bothwell Walk In Clinic.
