Pettis County added six confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total number of cases to 3,908, according to the Pettis County Health Center.

This is an increase of 233 cases in the past week and 346 cases in the past two weeks, according to information from the Pettis County Health Center in the Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force briefing issued Monday.

The positivity rate for the week of Dec. 8-16 is 14.43%, which is an improvement over 20.25% from the week before. Hospitalizations have decreased, but Pettis County still reported several deaths last week.

“Thank you to everyone who took the advice of health experts to limit gatherings over Thanksgiving,” the Health Center information states. “Those sacrifices are reflected in our decreasing numbers. We need to continue to care for ourselves and our neighbors during the holidays by staying home if you are ill, good hand washing, limiting contact with people outside of your household, and wearing a mask when you can not maintain at least 6 (feet) of distance.”

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported a seven-day total of 17,416 cases on Monday or an average of 2,488 per day. There were a total of 64 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Missouri during the last seven days, representing an average of nine deaths per day.
