Pettis County COVID count increases by triple digits

Two additional deaths reported

Pettis County added 124 confirmed cases of COVID-19 Monday, bringing the total number of cases to 1,984, according to the Pettis County Health Center.

There are now 605 active cases and 1,351 residents have been released to normal activity. Seventeen county residents are hospitalized seeking treatment for the COVID-19 virus. The health center also confirmed two additional deaths attributed to the virus, bringing the total to 28. According to information from Monday’s Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force briefing, five additional cases are under investigation.

According to the briefing, there are more than 500 active cases, which is an increase of 257. That is an increase of 21% in the last two weeks.

“The numbers are increasing much more rapidly than previously,” health center officials noted in the briefing. “There were a total of 113 cases reported for Saturday and Sunday.”

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported a seven-day total of 15,208 cases of COVID-19 on Monday or an average of 2,173 per day. There were a total of 78 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Missouri during the last seven days, representing an average of 11 deaths per day.
