Pettis sees less than 30 new COVID cases

Pettis County added 29 confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total number of cases to 11,959 according to the Pettis County Health Center.

The Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force is continuing to receive late case reports and is working with its partners to facilitate timely data reporting.

“The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services website is reporting Pettis County has a positivity rate of 3.1% for the past seven days as compared to 3.1% for last week with PCR testing,” the task force briefing stated on Monday. “The case count per 100,000 for the past seven days is 14/100,000. This week there were 258 PCR tests and 194 antigen tests for a total of 452. Last week there were 576 tests. At this time, the counts do not include home test results.”

The vaccine breakthrough for the week ending March 27 is five out of nine cases counted for a breakthrough rate of 55%. Of the vaccinated cases, one had received a booster dose. 

As of Tuesday, there were 595 hospitalized in Missouri with COVID as compared to 752 hospitalized with COVID last week. There are 95 people in ICU as compared to 124 people in ICU last week. 

According to the latest information, omicron accounts for 100% of the variant reported in the sewer shed report. There was no report for Sedalia for last week, however, the Omicron B2A variant was identified in Warrensburg.

There are zero individuals hospitalized at Bothwell Regional Health Center as compared to zero last week. The DHSS website reports 125 deaths in Pettis County with a confirmed PCR test and 34 deaths with a positive antigen test. This is an increase of two since last week.

Approximately 47.6% of the population of Pettis County residents have started vaccination.   According to the state website, 20,146 Pettis County residents have started vaccination and 18,126 have had at least two doses, which is approximately 42.8% of the population. Pettis County is falling behind the state rate of 63.5% have started vaccination and 56.5% have received at least two doses. The state is reporting 74.6% of the population over 18 has started and 66.5% have received at least two doses. For Pettis County, 59.3% of the population 18 and over have started vaccination (18,914) and 53.5% (17,062) have received at least two doses.   According to the DHSS website, 16.3% (1,239) of 5-17-year-olds have started vaccination and 14.1% (1,063) have received two doses. For the 65 and over age group, 80.3% (5,816) have started vaccination and 73.3% (5,307) have received at least two doses. Only 81 Pettis County residents received a vaccine last week.

Pettis County Health Center has regular walk-in clinics from 9 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Tuesdays. The health center can provide vaccines to individuals at home and at places of employment.

People who test positive and have a particularly high risk of progressing to more severe disease need a prescription/order from a local physician for treatment. Contact your health care professional as quickly as possible after testing positive. Two of the medications can only be started within five days of onset of symptoms. People can no longer self-refer for infusions by calling the hospital.

People who want the Pfizer two-dose primary vaccine series or a booster dose can visit the Bothwell Walk-In Clinic located on the first floor of the Bothwell Healing Arts Center at 3700 W. 10th St. in Sedalia. The last public vaccine clinic will be from 10 to 11 a.m. April 13 on the second floor of the Bothwell Healing Arts Center. People may walk in, however, appointments are encouraged by calling 660-829-8888. 

The Pfizer vaccine is available for children aged 5 to 11. People who want the vaccine for their child in that age group can make appointments at Bothwell TLC Pediatrics from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursdays by calling 660-829-5852 or 660-829-8888 or at Bothwell Health Center-Truman Lake in Warsaw from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays by calling 660-438-6800.

Katy Trail Community Health is providing Pfizer vaccine to community members from 1 to 6 p.m Wednesdays and Fridays at 816 Westwood Drive.
