This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

April 5

2:30 p.m.: Danny R. Leopold, 36, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers were dispatched to a business in the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a disturbance. An employee said Leopold was in the store yelling and refusing to leave. He was also making references to suicide. Officers made contact with Leopold when he damaged property in the store and attempted to leave without purchasing merchandise. When officers attempted to detain Leopold he resisted and was taken into custody. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of disturbing the peace, second-degree property damage, first-degree trespass, and resisting arrest. 

April 6

5:05 p.m.: George Richard Apel III, 53, of the 400 block of 17th Street, was arrested after officers stopped to check on a subject that was believed to have been in an accident. Apel was driving the vehicle and was discovered to be intoxicated. He was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail for a 24-hour hold. Apel was charged with driving while intoxicated-persistent offender, and driving while suspended/revoked. 

Incidents

April 5

1:38 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 2000 block of Tiger Pride Boulevard for a report of harassment. The victim stated that a known subject threatened to kill her the next time he saw her. Police will be seeking a charge of harassment against the suspect.

4:25 p.m.: An officer spoke with a victim in reference to a hit-and-run accident on South Limit Avenue at West 16th Street. The victim stated the other vehicle left the scene. The officer was able to identify the vehicle through the investigation and learned it was simply a miscommunication. A crash report was completed.

6:34 p.m.: Officers took a report over the phone in reference to a sex crime that occurred in the 300 block of West Third Street. Officers spoke to the victim and a report was made.

April 6 

6:48 p.m.: An officer responded to the 2200 Block of South Limit Avenue for a report of property damage. The victim stated while she was traveling south on South Limit Avenue under the Katy Trail overpass someone threw a rock from the overpass and it struck the hood of her vehicle. The victim estimated $1,000 in damage was caused to the vehicle.

April 6

8:42 p.m.: Kelly M. Jones, 36, of Clinton, was arrested in Henry County for driving while intoxicated, felony warrant out of Henry County, operating without a valid driver's license, no insurance, and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.
