This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Sedalia Police Department

Arrests

Aug. 9

7:54 a.m.: Michael Joe Osburn Jr., 37, of the 2800 block of South Ingram Avenue, was arrested after an officer initiated a traffic stop near South Engineer Avenue and Lewis Circle for no rear plate. The driver's license status was suspended out of Iowa and he was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released. A charge of driving with a suspended license was submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutor's office.

Aug. 5

5:23 p.m.: An officer took a report of property damage that occurred in the 500 block of East Fourth Street. The suspect was found on video and charges have been submitted to the Pettis County prosecutor. 

Aug. 7

4:11 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 3100 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a theft. Two male subjects entered the store and split up. Both subjects left without paying for a T-shirt valued at $20. The employee was able to identify the vehicle used to leave the parking lot and one of the suspects.

Aug. 9

1:42 p.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 600 block of South Hancock Avenue in regard to property damage due to burning, which was no longer in process. A report was completed to document the incident. 

Aug. 10

12:17 a.m.: Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of U.S. Highway 50 and South Limit Avenue for a moving violation. Dustin Michael Bertrand was identified and found to be driving with a suspended license. He was released from the scene pending City charges of driving with a suspended license. 

3:25 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of West Fifth Street for a reported theft that occurred inside a motor vehicle. An XM radio, loose change, and a pack of cigarettes were taken. The suspect is unknown at this time.

Pettis County Sheriff's Office

Arrests

Aug. 9

5:33 p.m.: Brenda K. Jones, 64, was arrested after officers on patrol in the area of South Kentucky Avenue and West 16th Street witnessed a white Ford Fusion with expired tags. Jones had a suspended license and was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was booked and released. 

Aug. 10

12:15 a.m.: Conchetta R. Wolfe, 33, of Marshall, was arrested after deputies were advised by Saline County 911 of a vehicle that failed to yield to the Marshall Police Department. The vehicle was located in Pettis County and failed to yield to Pettis County deputies. The vehicle later rammed a Pettis County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle, causing significant damage to the vehicle and the suspect vehicle. The pursuit continued and the driver was stopped again. She failed to comply with commands and a taser was deployed to take her into custody. Wolfe was transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was placed on a 24-hour hold for careless and imprudent driving, first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, first-degree property damage, first-degree terroristic threats, and resisting arrest. 

Incidents

Aug. 9

7:21 p.m.: Deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of East Mason Street in La Monte on a report of a disturbance. Officers were advised children went to a neighbor's residence and told a neighbor a 15-year-old was hit on the right side of the face. Officers made contact with the suspect and the victim. The suspect was taken into custody for child abuse. Their name is being withheld pending the filing of charges.

Arrests

Aug. 10

1:29 a.m.: Katie J. Kaut, 33, of Stover, was arrested in Morgan County for driving while intoxicated-prior offender and careless and imprudent driving involving an accident. She was transported to the Morgan County Jail for a 12-hour hold.
