This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Aug. 11

1:52 a.m.: Timothy Mull, 51, of the 1200 block of Deseret Drive, was arrested after a traffic stop near West Main Street and Industrial Road. He was arrested and transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for a blood draw, then transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed in 12-hour protective custody. A charge of driving while intoxicated-previous offender has been submitted to the prosecutor.

Aug. 13

8:40 a.m.: Barry Darnell Simmons, 33, of the 800 block of 14th Street, was issued a summons after a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding and expired plates. The subject had a revoked license and was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released.

6:44 p.m.: Felicia Lynn Byrd, 27, of the 300 block of Scott Joplin Court, was arrested after officers were dispatched in reference to a disturbance. The suspect was being restrained by another subject after assaulting family members. While attempting to place the subject into handcuffs, Byrd bit one of the officers causing minor injuries. The subject was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold for third-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, and third-degree domestic assault.

6:55 p.m.: Rodrigo M. Chavez Mercado, of Cole Camp, was arrested after an accident near the 2400 block of Station Avenue. The driver was arrested and transported to the SPD and then to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 12-hour protective custody hold. A request for charges of driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license have been submitted to the prosecutor.

9:08 p.m.: Rebecca Alarcon, 43, of the 1200 block of East Sixth Street, was arrested after officers conducted a vehicle stop at East 10th Street and South Engineer Avenue. The driver was confirmed to have a suspended driving status and was issued a municipal citation.

Aug. 14

7:17 a.m.: Dana M. Green, 34, of the 2400 block of West Second Street Terrace, was arrested after officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Clinton Road and Matthew Drive on a vehicle with a broken brake light. It was discovered Green had a suspended driver's license. She was arrested, taken to the SPD, booked and released.

1:15 a.m.: Ronnie G. Guale Castro, 27, of Marshall, was arrested after a traffic stop in the area of West 16th Street and South Grand Avenue for improper lane use. He was arrested for driving without a driver's license. 

11:31 p.m.: Shane Michael Bernard, 38, of Springfield, was arrested after a traffic stop in the area of West 16th Street and South Thompson Avenue for a license plate light that was out. Bernard had a revoked driver's license and was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released.

Aug. 15

7:14 a.m.: Derrick Lamount Green, 50, of the 1600 block of East Ninth Street, was arrested after a traffic stop on a truck in the area of West Main Street and South Grand Avenue. The driver's license status was revoked, and he was taken to the SPD and released with a city ticket for driving with a revoked license. 

12:59 p.m.: Michael D. McNeil Jr., of the 4200 block of West Main Street, was arrested after officers made contact in the 700 block of East Broadway Blvd. McNeil had an active Pettis County warrant and he was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked on his warrant and for driving with a suspended license. 

7:57 p.m.: Jeffrey W. Berkshire, 35, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers responded to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a subject check. Berkshire, who consented to search, was in possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold. 

Incidents

Aug. 10

1:47 p.m.: An officer spoke with the victim on the phone in reference to a hit-and-run accident. The victim stated her vehicle was parked on Anderson Avenue near Wing Avenue on Aug. 8 and was struck by another vehicle. The striking vehicle left the scene without providing information. 

Aug. 13

2:40 a.m.: Officers responded to the 800 block of West Sixth Street in reference to a hit-and-run accident. Witnesses stated that a truck rear-ended a parked car and left the scene. There is no suspect information at this time. 

8:53 a.m.: Officers responded to the 500 block of South State Fair Boulevard for a stolen license plate.

12:25 p.m.: An officer responded to the 1600 block of West Ninth Street in reference to a hit-and-run accident. The victim stated that sometime during the early morning hours his vehicle was struck while parked on the roadway. The striking vehicle left without providing information, however, parts were gathered on scene. 

3:33 p.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 1900 block of South Limit Avenue in reference to a hit-and-run accident. The victim stated her vehicle was struck while parked on the private lot. The striking vehicle left without providing information.

6:08 p.m.: Officers responded to the 600 block of West Second Street in reference to a disturbance. The victim said the suspect damaged an outside window and left. The suspect has not been contacted at this time.

6:50 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of East 10th Street for a report of property damage. A moonroof on a motor vehicle had been hit with a blunt object. The suspect is unknown at this time.

8:26 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 300 block of North Randolph Avenue for a theft report. The victim reported someone gained access to his garage and stole a 50cc dirt bike valued at $1,000. There are no suspects at this time. 

9:33 p.m.: Officers responded to the intersection of West 13th Street and South Kentucky Avenue for the report of a disturbance. A male in the roadway had injuries to the head and was transported to University Hospital in Columbia. The incident is still under investigation. 

Aug. 14

9:08 a.m.: Jack D. Cecil, 83, of Warsaw, was arrested after an officer took a report of an assault that took place at Bothwell Regional Health Center on Aug. 14. Cecil was questioned and issued a summons.

2:40 p.m.: An officer responded to the 1500 block of East Ninth Street regarding the theft of motorcycles from the address. The total value of the bikes is $800.

6:58 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1800 block of East Seventh Street in reference to found property. The caller said she found inappropriate photos of her daughter and another juvenile on a phone. The caller surrendered the phone and it has been placed into evidence. 

8:10 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of East 14th Street in reference to a theft. The caller said someone had stolen the license plates from her car. It's unknown when the theft occurred and no arrests have been made.

Aug. 15

7:13 a.m.: A victim reported his bicycle was stolen overnight from a business in the 800 block of South Limit Avenue. 

11:23 a.m.: An officer responded to the 1600 block of Honeysuckle Drive for a theft report. The victim stated his four-wheeler had been stolen off his trailer sometime overnight on Aug. 15. A report was taken.

12:45 a.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 1200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a hit-and-run accident. The complainant stated that a U-Haul drove into the building and left the scene of the accident without providing any information. The driver has not been identified at this time. 

3:07 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a building in the 1100 block of East Third Street for a report of a theft. The caller stated someone had cut the catalytic converter from the church van.

9:16 p.m.: Officers took a report in the SPD lobby in reference to a missing person. A female juvenile went to the Missouri State Fair and had not returned home. She was entered into the system as missing.

Arrests

Aug. 16

1:20 a.m.: Deputies working security at the Missouri State Fair were told a man was refusing to leave and had attempted to sic his dog on them. The suspect refused to leave and pulled his pants down in front of deputies. He was taken into custody.

Aug. 13

11:42 p.m.: Shaikilla N. Maddix, 28, of Marshall, was arrested in Saline County for driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving. She was transported to the Saline County Jail and released. 

Aug. 14

3:53 p.m.: Quentin J. Davis, 48, of Kansas City, Missouri, was arrested in Johnson County for felony unlawful possession of a firearm, felony forgery, knowingly altering or counterfeiting an insurance card, possession of marijuana, and no insurance. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.

7:16 p.m.: Daniel E. Bakert, 26, of Holts Summit, was arrested in Pettis County for felony possession of a controlled substance - amphetamine and dextromethamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance - marijuana less than 35 grams, and speeding. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and released. 

Aug. 15

1:14 a.m.: Brooklyn R. Hetherington, 25, of Warsaw, was arrested in Benton County for driving while intoxicated and speeding. She was transported to the Benton County Jail and released.
