This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

July 30

2:22 a.m.: David William McGovern II, 23, of Columbia, was arrested after being pulled over for failing to maintain his lane near East Broadway Boulevard and Hancock Avenue. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated-drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the hospital and then to the Pettis County Jail. 

9:30 a.m.: Justin R. Rogers, 19, of the 400 block of North Prospect Avenue, was arrested after officers responded to the 600 block of North Ohio Avenue for a male subject who was exposing himself to people. Rogers was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail on charges of marijuana possession, harassment to frighten or disturb another person, and first-degree sexual misconduct.

9:05 p.m.:  David A. Macias, 35, of the 2300 block of East Broadway Boulevard, was arrested after an officer was dispatched to a traffic complaint. The officer located an intoxicated driver in a business parking lot in the 2600 block of East Broadway Boulevard. The subject was intoxicated and was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department where he provided a breath sample that showed blood alcohol content above the legal level. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 12-hour for driving while intoxicated-prior offender and driving with a revoked license. 

9:47 p.m.: Steven Ray Harris, 49, of Mora, was arrested after officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of South Limit Avenue and West 14th Street for a license violation. The driver had a suspended license and was issued a municipal summons for driving with a suspended license. 

July 31

12:36 a.m.: Chad A. Stein, 41, of Concordia, was arrested after a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation. The driver fled from the vehicle, the female occupant remained in the vehicle. The male subject was located a short distance away hiding under a vehicle and was taken into custody. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail for driving with a suspended license, resisting arrest, and two failure to appear warrants.

11:01 a.m.: Erick C. Eakin, 27, of the 300 block of East Saline Street, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 300 block of North Grand Avenue in reference to a domestic disturbance. The suspect was located, arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, and placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of third-degree domestic assault, endangering the welfare of a child, first-degree burglary, second-degree property damage, and tampering with a witness.

6:37 p.m.: Cornelius Antwane Reed, 37, of the 400 block of Buckner Court, was issued a summons after officers conducted a traffic stop in the vicinity of West Saline Street and Buckner Court for a vehicle with no registration. The driver's license was suspended. He was arrested and transported to the police department where he was booked and released on a municipal summons.

August 1

1:02 a.m.: Kurt Joel Hawley, 42, of the 1600 block of West Fourth Street, was arrested after officers were dispatched to South Beacon Avenue and West Broadway Boulevard to assist with a traffic stop. The driver was intoxicated yet refused to provide a breath sample. A search warrant was obtained for a blood draw. The driver was then transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked for driving while intoxicated.

Incidents

July 30

5:45 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1900 block of East Seventh Street in reference to a theft from a vehicle. The caller said when she got in her car to go to work she discovered someone had gone through her vehicle. She said she was late for work but soon discovered the keys to her other car were missing, as was her work ID. No arrests have been made at this time.

8:26 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1700 block East Seventh Street for a theft. The victim stated that sometime overnight someone got into her unlocked vehicle and took around $5 in change.

8:34 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1800 block of East Sixth Street for a report of theft. The victim stated that sometime overnight someone got into her unlocked vehicle and took change. 

July 31

10:38 a.m.: An officer responded to the 1700 block of South Quincy Avenue in reference to a hit-and-run accident. The victim stated his vehicle was struck while parked in a business parking lot in the 1400 block of South Limit Avenue. The striking vehicle left without providing information.

5:10 p.m.:  Officers responded to the 1900 block of East Seventh Street in reference to a theft and trespassing. The owner stated their security cameras captured a prowler in their backyard. While reviewing the video they discovered he also stole one of their security cameras before leaving. The suspect has been identified and charges have been submitted. 

6:06 p.m.: Officers responded to the 3900 block of South Limit Avenue for a report of a theft that just occurred. The owner stated a catalytic converter had been stolen.

8:27 p.m.: Officers took a theft report from a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard the suspect had left the store without paying for several items. He was not located.

9:52 p.m.: Officers responded to the 1200 block of South Sneed Avenue in reference to a hit-and-run. The victim stated her vehicle was involved in a collision while it was parked in the street. The suspect left the scene without providing any information.

August 1

12:51 p.m.: An officer spoke with a victim in reference to a theft. The victim stated that sometime in the last two weeks $120 in cash was stolen from her billfold at her residence in the 1400 block of Liberty Park Road.

7:51 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a reported burglary not in progress in the 1100 block of East Sixth Street. Officers spoke to the victim who stated that between July 24 and July 31 someone entered the front door of his apartment and items were taken worth a total value of $360. The suspect is not known.

8:12 p.m.: Officers responded to the SPD lobby to take a report of child abuse that occurred near South Osage Avenue and West 12th Street. An investigation is now underway.

10:07 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the intersection of West Fourth Street and South Missouri Avenue for an assault report. The victim stated he was hit by two unknown suspects. Suspects were not located.

Arrests

July 28

12:40 a.m.: Andres C. Munzo, of Sedalia, was arrested after the Pettis County K-9 unit conducted a traffic stop in the area of U.S. Highway 65 and U.S. Highway 50 on a vehicle displaying an expired temp tag from 2020. During the stop, the driver, who was identified as Munzo, was arrested for driving with a revoked license.

Incidents

July 31

12:19 a.m.: Deputies on patrol in the area of West 11th Street and South Prospect Avenue attempted to stop a silver passenger vehicle. The white male driver jumped out of the driver's seat and fled the scene on foot. He was located a short time later by deputies and taken into custody by Sedalia police officers.

7:15 a.m.: Deputies took a report of trespassing in the 23000 block of Route MM. The suspect left the area before deputies could locate him.

2:46 p.m.: Deputies took a report for possible harassment in the 4200 block of South Kentucky Avenue. The investigation continues.

August 1

9 a.m.: Deputies responded to the 26000 block of Highway 50 Spur in Smithton for a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was later located in Benton County.

Arrests

July 30

9:47 p.m.: Aaron A. Cutshaw, 22, of Versailles, was arrested in Morgan County for felony driving while intoxicated-alcohol, physical injury to law enforcement, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway, no insurance, and no seat belt. He was transported to the Morgan County Jail and placed a 24-hour hold.

July 31

11:56 p.m.: Joshua B. Bardwell, 25, of Creighton, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, speeding, and no seat belt. He was transported to the Cass County Jail and released. 

August 1

3:54 a.m.: Eddie R. Bailey, 48, of Sedalia, was arrested in Saline County for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Saline County Jail and released.
