This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Incidents

July 14

11:14 a.m.: Officers were dispatched for a phone call in reference to a stolen gun. Officers spoke with the caller, who said a subject bought a firearm from him at a gun show and later reported it was a fraudulent charge on their credit card. The identity of the subject is known and misdemeanor charges are being sought for fraudulent stopping payment on an instrument. The firearm was also entered as stolen. 

Aug. 1

2:08 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 4400 block of Wisconsin Avenue in reference to a theft that occurred over the weekend. Around $779.98 worth of items were taken from the business. No suspects have been identified at this time.

Incidents

July 25

12:30 p.m.: Deputies took a report of identity theft from the 30000 block of North Lake Drive in Sedalia. 

Aug. 1

9:50 p.m.: The K9 Unit and deputies received an anonymous tip about a subject, Brian E. Tripp, of Sedalia, hiding in a motel room in the 4700 block of South Limit Avenue. Pettis County K9, deputies and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers responded. A short time later, a female occupant of the room went back inside the room and escorted Tripp out. Tripp was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Pettis County Jail. Tripp had active warrants out for Probation and Parole in Saline County.

Arrests

Aug. 1

2:32 p.m.: James D. Hargrave, 31, of Calhoun, was arrested in Johnson County for felony charges of possession of a controlled substance (THC oil and oxycodone), driving while intoxicated-drugs, and three lane violations. 

10:04 p.m.: Dylan M. Ramsey, 23, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, no seat belt and failure to drive in a single lane.
