This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Aug. 3

1:07 p.m.: Marie Christin Bakert, 33, of the 1500 block of East Seventh Street, was arrested at East 15th Street and South Marvin Avenue for driving while suspended/revoked. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked and released.

9:48 p.m.: An officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle for an improper stop at a stop sign at West Seventh Street and South Kentucky Avenue. During contact with the occupants, the odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle was completed and a felony amount of marijuana was located. The driver, Shae M. Buckner, 28, of the 100 block of West Jefferson Street, also had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear out of Saline County. Buckner was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail for the warrant and a new requested charge of possession of a controlled substance. He was booked and released.

Incidents

July 30

2:40 p.m.: An officer met an individual in the SPD lobby in reference to a possible hit and run. The victim advised that a family member was operating her vehicle in a business parking lot in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard when it was involved in a minor collision with another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle provided limited information but attempts to reach them have been unsuccessful. At the time of the report, the driver of the second vehicle has not been identified.

Aug. 2

9:13 a.m.: A referral from Children’s Division was received regarding a sex crime involving two juveniles. It was found that the allegations had already been addressed by the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office.

Aug. 3

10:06 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1600 block of Heck Avenue in reference to a disturbance. When the officer arrived, the caller said a man known to her had pulled a gun on her during an argument. The suspect had left the area before police arrived and no charges have been filed at this time.

Arrests

10:08 p.m.: Deputies were dispatched to the 25000 block of state Highway 135 to multiple non-emergency calls. After an investigation, deputies arrested Chad Wagenknecht, 32, of Smithton. Wagenknecht was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked on pending charges of misuse of 911.
