This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Dec. 9

9:34 p.m.: Isidro Romero Jr., 19, of the 2400 block of Bristol Lane, was arrested after a traffic stop at Broadway Boulevard and Montgomery Avenue for expired temporary tags. Romero was intoxicated, in possession of intoxicants as a minor and was driving with a suspended driver's license. He was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked on state charges pending release to a sober person. 

Dec. 10

12:53 a.m.: Darvin Tarnes Lessoy, 28, of the 600 block of East Broadway Boulevard, was arrested after a vehicle stop near Broadway Boulevard and Thompson Avenue for several moving violations and indications of intoxicated driving. The driver had a suspended Missouri driver's license and was intoxicated. Lessoy was transported to the Pettis County Jail pending release to a sober person for driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended driver's license. 

3:32 a.m.: Qaden Chance Vandervegte, 18, of Kansas City, was arrested after a vehicle stop near East 10th Street and South Engineer Avenue for suspicion of intoxicated driving, failing to maintain a lane, and failing to maintain the right half of the roadway. Vandervegte was intoxicated by drugs and was taken to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released for driving while intoxicated – drugs. 

Dec. 11

12:20 a.m.: Abernathy Iantheus Barlow, 26, of the 900 block of East 13th Street, was arrested after a vehicle stop near West Broadway Boulevard and South Park Avenue for driving with no lights. Barlow was intoxicated and was taken to the police department, processed and released to a sober person for driving while intoxicated. 

1:55 a.m.: Daniel N. Sirom, 37, of the 2600 block of Bristol Lane, was arrested after officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance. Sirom was identified as the primary aggressor, causing visible injury to the other resident. The intoxicated subject physically resisted officers during the arrest and was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of third-degree domestic assault and felony resisting arrest. 

2:07 a.m.: Nicole R. Ridenour, 20, of Windsor, was arrested after a vehicle stop near East Third Street and South Engineer Avenue for equipment issues. It was determined that the driver was intoxicated by drugs and Ridenour was placed under arrest and booked into the Pettis County Jail for driving while intoxicated – drugs. 

 7:40 a.m.: Emilio A. Olivos, 20, of the 1500 block of South Harrison Avenue, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of South New York Avenue in reference to a motor vehicle crash with airbag deployment. Investigation revealed a 2010 Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicle was traveling south on South New York Avenue and traveled off the right side of the roadway, where it struck a power pole with the right front end. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated and was eventually issued a summons. The Mercedes was towed and Evergy was contacted about the destroyed power pole. 

7:02 p.m.: Shaun Christopher Webb, 52, of the 2000 block of West 14th Street, was arrested after being stopped near West 14th Street and South Warren Avenue for failing to stop prior to the stop line. Webb was found to be intoxicated by alcohol and possibly drugs, and was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for a blood draw. Due to medical conditions, he was released to the care of Bothwell. A charge of driving while intoxicated has been requested. 

10:13 p.m.: Carlos Alberto Melgar, 29, of the 21000 block of Tangle Nook Meadows, was arrested after police conducted an investigative vehicle stop in the 2400 block of South Limit Avenue. The operator was found to have a suspended driving status and was arrested and later released from the scene with a citation. 

Incidents

Dec. 6

12:30 p.m.: Officers responded to the 900 block of Winchester Drive in reference to a possible theft and property damage. Items were stolen from a business in the area and there was damage to the property. The value of the stolen items was $40 and the damage was $20. A suspect has not been located at this time.

Dec. 9

2:38 p.m.: An officer responded to the 1900 block of South Prospect Avenue for a non-breathing man. Life-saving measures were taken by officers on scene and the subject regained a pulse and started breathing on his own again. The subject became combative with paramedics and officers and refused further care. 

5:55 p.m.: Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street for a subject not breathing. Emergency personnel performed life-saving measures and the subject regained a pulse and started breathing. He was transported to Bothwell for care. 

Dec. 10

11:28 a.m.: Officers took a report of a stolen laptop in the 1300 block of Montgomery Avenue. The value of the laptop was $120. No suspects have been identified. 

2:29 p.m.: Officers responded to the 3100 block of Brianna Boulevard in reference to a possible disturbance. Initially, a subject was arrested for failing to obey a lawful order. After speaking with all the subjects involved, it was determined the subject was having a mental health crisis and was transported to Bothwell for treatment. He was released to the care of the hospital with no charges.

10:44 p.m.: Sedalia police responded to the 1100 block of South Osage Avenue for an assault. The victim reported a male subject known to him entered the property and assaulted him. The victim received no injuries and refused medical attention. The suspect had left prior to the arrival of officers and his whereabouts are believed to be outside Pettis County. Formal charges are being forwarded to the municipal prosecuting attorney. 

Dec. 11

10:50 a.m.: Officers responded to the 1600 block of West 16th Street in reference to a theft. A yard decoration was stolen from a residence sometime the previous evening. The value of the item was $200. No suspects have been identified. 

1:47 p.m.: An officer patrolling the area of Centennial Park, 1500 E. 16th St., observed a 9-year-old boy walking on the sidewalk with no shoes, no shirt, and a blanket wrapped around him. At the time of the contact, it was 44 degrees. The child had walked approximately 10 blocks and was returned to his mother. A hotline was completed to the Children's Division for supervision issues. 

8:10 p.m.: Police responded to a business in the 100 block of Rebar Road for counterfeit money. A clerk advised a subject attempted to pay for items using fake American currency. When the clerk questioned the money, the subject left the store.

Arrests

Dec. 11

10:33 p.m.: Aaron Brown, 40, of Columbia, was arrested after deputies conducted a traffic stop at East Broadway Boulevard and South Merriam Avenue on a vehicle for failing to signal a lane change. During the traffic stop, the passenger fled on foot and was taken into custody. A vehicle search revealed a bag of pills, a significant amount of methamphetamine, and THC wax. Brown also had probation and parole warrants. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of resisting arrest, two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dec. 12

7:42 a.m.: Deputies took a report for property damage in the 22000 block of Snow Road in Pettis County. The investigation continues.

Dec. 9

11:52 p.m.: Robert W. Arnold, 49, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and placed on a 12-hour hold.

Dec. 10

7:36 p.m.: Johnny S. Maciel, 46, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for felony failure to comply with sex offender registry requirements. He was transported to the Johnson County Jail and released. 

Dec. 11

2:35 a.m.: Tyler J. Straisinger, 29, of Windsor, was arrested in Henry County for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Henry County Jail and released. 

9:46 a.m.: Kenneth D. Brown, 39, of St. Louis, was arrested in Saline County for felony driving with a suspended license. He was transported to the Saline County Jail and released. 

8:13 p.m.: Ethan B. Fuetz, 37, of Columbia, was arrested in Saline County for driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended driver's license, and careless and imprudent driving. He was transported to the Saline County Jail and placed on a 12-hour hold 

11:01 p.m.: Jackson R. Harvey, 23, of Clinton, was arrested in Henry County for driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway resulting in an accident. He was transported to the Henry County Jail and released.
