This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Nov. 30

11:14 a.m.: Daniel J. Jones, 33, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers responded to the 2700 block of West 16th Street for a suspicious person. Officers made contact with Jones who had been entering a truck that did not belong to him. The owner of the truck wished to pursue charges. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending charges of fourth-degree assault, stealing of a motor vehicle, tampering with a victim/witness, and stealing from a motor vehicle.

Nov. 29

4:18 p.m.: Officers responded to the 200 block of East Jackson Street in reference to an incendiary device. Officers found the device near a vehicle and as a precaution contacted the Missouri State Highway Patrol Explosives Disposal Unit to assist during the investigation. MSHP rendered the device safe and the investigation is ongoing. No one was injured during the incident. 

5:06 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of East Sixth Street regarding a disturbance. One party wanted to pursue charges after someone living in the home physically disciplined their child. The case is being forwarded to the state prosecuting attorney's office.

5:25 p.m.: An officer was dispatched on a theft report at Liberty Park, 1500 W. Third St. The victim said their cell phone was stolen at approximately 4:30 p.m. It was entered into the system as stolen.

Nov. 30

3:27 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of South State Fair Boulevard in reference to a burglary report. Someone had entered the victim's residence and stolen items valued at around $600. 

Dec. 1

12:46 a.m.: Officers responded to the 1000 block of South Merriam Avenue in reference to a theft. The victim stated that a generator was stolen out of the backyard valued at $700. A suspect has been named, but not contacted at this time.

Nov. 29

5:30 p.m.: Deputies responded to the area of Highway 52 and Highway B and Windsor to a non-injury one-vehicle crash. The driver stated she was eastbound on Highway 52 when she hit two small deer.

Nov. 30

8:15 a.m.: Deputies were dispatched to an abandoned vehicle on Menefee Road. Deputies ran the VIN number and it returned as a stolen vehicle out of Sweet Springs. Sweet Springs police were contacted and the vehicle was turned over to them on the scene.

12:25 p.m.: Deputies took a report of a stolen motor vehicle in the 22000 block of Yeater Road. The victim stated that between 6 a.m. and noon Nov. 30 someone had stolen her maroon 2008 Dodge Charger.

Dec. 1

4:30 a.m.: Deputies were dispatched to the 24000 block of Oak Grove Lane in Pettis County in reference to a stolen vehicle. A suspect was identified in the theft of a 2013 Lexus RX350.
