This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Dec. 28

11:09 p.m.: Kiara Willis, 19, of the 400 block of Welch Court, was arrested in the 1600 block of East Broadway Boulevard for two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Carlese L. Overton, 23, of the 700 block of West Cooper Street, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. A traffic stop was conducted for a vehicle with no front license plate. During the stop, the driver was found to have a warrant from Benton County with no bond and she was placed under arrest. The vehicle had the odor of marijuana coming from inside and was searched. The search revealed the driver, Willis, was in possession of two controlled pills that she did not have a prescription for. The search also revealed the passenger, Overton, was in possession of a controlled substance.

Incidents

Dec. 26

4:58 p.m.: An assault was reported in the 2500 block of Plaza Avenue. A female suspect reportedly choked a male juvenile. The juvenile reported a minor injury and was not treated. The female suspect fled the scene. She has been identified but not arrested.

Dec. 29

2:06 p.m.: A complainant reported a 2007 Chevrolet Impala was stolen from a business parking lot in the 2100 block of South Limit Avenue sometime in the last few days.

Arrests

Dec. 21

1:34 a.m.: Callie A. Slater was issued a summons near the intersection of South Missouri Avenue and Broadway Boulevard for driving with a suspended license. A traffic stop was conducted for no registration.

Dec. 29

12:02 a.m.: Jose Sanchez, of Sedalia, was issued a summons for no valid license near the intersection of Whitfield Road and state Route MM in Sedalia. A traffic stop was conducted for several lane violations.

5:01 a.m.: Desiree Flores, of the 20000 block of state Route O, was arrested at her residence for fourth-degree domestic assault. Deputies responded to a report of a verbal disturbance. During the disturbance, windows were broken out, which caused injuries to another subject.

10:45 p.m.: Joseph E. Fore, of Sedalia, was arrested near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and Winchester Drive for driving while intoxicated. A traffic stop was conducted for making an improper turn and driving in the wrong lane on Winchester Drive. Deputies made contact with the driver and conducted field sobriety tests.

Incidents

Dec. 23

6:42 a.m.: Deputies responded to a residence in the 30000 block of Ball Road for a report of a trailer on fire. While en route, deputies were informed the fire had spread to a second trailer and upon arrival, they were informed it had spread to a third. The fire was deemed accidental.

Dec. 24

7:18 p.m.: A reporting party stated someone broke out two windows on a vehicle in the 2800 block of South New York Avenue. A pressure washer and a generator were also taken from an enclosed trailer attached to the vehicle. The caller stated the incident happened around 10:43 p.m. Dec. 20.
