This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.
Sedalia Police Department
Nov . 25
11:18 p.m.: Cody A. Harvey, 29, of the 1500 block of Vermont Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop on Wilkerson Street near South Harrison Avenue. Harvey was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 12-hour protective custody hold for driving while intoxicated-alcohol.
12:04 p.m.: Angela Ileen Teeter, 42, of the 100 block of East Chestnut Street, was arrested after a traffic stop for failure to stop at a stop sign in the area of East Howard Street and North Hurley Avenue. Teeter was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was booked for driving with a suspended license and released.
9:17 a.m.: Brook Edwards Dowell, 30, of the 1000 block of East 13th Street, was arrested after a vehicle stop at East 13th Street and South Brown Avenue for failing to signal a turn and having a defective brake light. Dowell’s driving privilege had been suspended and he was arrested, booked, and released from the Pettis County Jail pending the filing of formal charges.
5:12 p.m.: Kimberly Marie Hopkins, 51, of the 1500 block of West Main Street, was issued a summons for stealing from a business in the 3000 block of West Broadway Boulevard after confessing to the theft.
1:15 p.m.: Nicholaus Michael Surber, 36, of the 2700 block of Clarendon Road, was arrested after a vehicle stop near 32nd Street and Clarendon Road for speeding. The driver had a revoked driver's license and was arrested. It was also determined the driver was impaired by drugs and in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was booked and released for driving while intoxicated-drugs, driving with a revoked driver's license, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
2:52 p.m.: Michelle A. Davenport, 54, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the 100 block of West Cooper Street. Davenport had pulled her pants down and was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was placed on 24-hour hold pending charges of sexual misconduct involving a child and two counts of first-degree sexual misconduct.
10:36 p.m.: Vada Ann Denny, 27, of Smithton, was arrested after officers responded to East Broadway Boulevard and Harding Avenue in reference to a hit-and-run accident. The victim stated they were involved in a collision and the other vehicle left the scene without exchanging information. The other vehicle was later located and Denny was arrested, transported to Pettis County Jail, and booked for leaving the scene of an accident.
10:47 p.m.: Rodney D. Ballew, 41, of the 1200 block of West 11th Street, was arrested after a traffic stop near South Ohio Avenue and East Sixth Street for a lane violation. The odor of marijuana was detected and a computer check revealed the driver had a revoked driving status. He was arrested for driving while revoked and a search revealed drugs as well. Ballew was taken to the Pettis County Jail and booked pending charges of driving while revoked and driving while intoxicated – prior offender.
2:09 a.m.: Uriel Estrada, 23, of the 1300 block of South Lamine Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop for driving on the wrong side of East 16th Street. It was determined the driver was intoxicated and was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released with a charge of driving while intoxicated-drugs.
7:53 a.m.: Pedro Pascual Herrera, 31, of the 1400 block of South Osage Avenue, was arrested after officers were dispatched to a home in the 1200 block of East 10th Street for a disturbance. Herrera gave false identifying information and was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked, and released pending the filing of formal charges of identity theft.
12:04 a.m.: Christian Nicole Connor, 32, of the 1400 block of South Ohio Avenue was arrested after a traffic stop for not using a turn signal near South Lamine Avenue and East Fifth Street. The registration plate did not match the vehicle and Connor was intoxicated. She was arrested, transported to the Sedalia Police Department, and then the Pettis County Jail where she was booked and released. A charge of driving while intoxicated-alcohol-prior offender was submitted to the prosecutor's office.
1:28 a.m.: Cole R. Gruender, 19, of Tipton, was arrested after a traffic stop for swerving on South Limit Avenue. It was determined Gruender was intoxicated and he was transported to the Sedalia Police Department where he refused a breath sample. A search warrant was obtained for a blood draw. Gruender was then taken to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released for driving while intoxicated.
5:08 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of West Second Street for a violation of a court order. The suspect has been identified and charges are being sought.
5:57 p.m.: Officers responded to the 300 block of East Saline Street in reference to a theft. The victim stated that someone entered the residence and stole various items. A suspect has been named but not contacted at this time.
7:50 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a reported domestic violence incident in the 800 block of South Barrett Avenue. The caller stated that they were at the 700 block of West 16th Street and would like officers to respond. Officers explained the choices the victim had and provided assistance.
12:55 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of East 11th Street for a disturbance. The victim alleged that a juvenile struck her in the face causing injury. The case has been forwarded to the juvenile office for review.
1:50 p.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 1200 block of West Main Street in reference to an abandoned ATV found on Union Pacific property. The officer discovered nearby storage sheds that had been broken into, one with missing tools. Another nearby business had pry marks on the back door. It's believed the ATV was used in the commission of these crimes and was towed from the area. The case remains under investigation.
5:20 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1100 block of West 16th Street in reference to a burglary. The caller said she saw a suspect coming out of an abandoned house taking property. The officer was unable to make contact with the owner and no arrests have been made at this time.
10:35 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 600 block of East 10th Street for a report of property damage. The caller stated that sometime overnight someone threw a large piece of cement through the sunroof of his vehicle.
2:08 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a disturbance in the Walmart parking lot. One of the parties left after exhibiting a weapon during an argument. An investigation identified the suspect although the victim does not wish to pursue charges.
2:36 p.m.: An officer spoke with a victim in reference to the theft of a Polaris ATV stolen from his residence. The ATV was located by police a short time later. At the time of the report, a suspect has not been identified.
Pettis County Sheriff's Office
2 p.m.: Morgan P. Roberts, of Sedalia, was arrested after deputies conducted a vehicle stop near the intersection of Cedar Road and Griessen Road for no front license plate. Roberts was arrested for a failure to appear warrant and received two summons for operating a motor vehicle without a valid license and failure to wear a seat belt.
Missouri State Highway Patrol
2 p.m.: Justin B. Wommack, 35, of Springfield, was arrested in Henry County for felony unlawful possession of a firearm. He was transported to the Henry County Jail and released.
11:57 p.m.: Kelsey D. Moore, 22, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County for six misdemeanor warrants, possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail.
1:47 a.m.: David C. Glass, 19, of Knob Noster, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and speeding. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.
11:53 a.m.: David J. Orlak, 50, of Breckenridge, Colorado, was arrested in Saline County for felony possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released.
2:54 p.m.: Jacob M. Gibbons, 19, of Independence, was arrested in Johnson County for felony fleeing, felony possession of marijuana, felony possession of a controlled substance – Tramadol, and no driver's license. He was transported to the Lone Jack Police Department and released.
