This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Jan. 9

2:34 p.m.: Douglas M. Draheim, 51, of the 5400 block of South Limit Avenue, was arrested after an officer responded to a business in the 3400 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a theft report. The store manager said two fraudulent checks were passed in the store in the amount of $206.10. Draheim was known to be in the Pettis County Jail and the officer responded and placed Draheim under arrest pending charges of forgery and stealing. 

Jan. 12

11:14 a.m.: Douglas M. Draheim, 51, of the 5400 block of South Limit Avenue, was arrested after an officer responded to a business in the 1400 block of South Limit Avenue for a theft report. The store manager stated two checks totaling $2,292.92 were written by the same subject on two prior visits. The checks were fraudulent and Draheim was identified and later located in Pettis County. He was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold. State charges of two counts of forgery and two counts of felony stealing are being requested. 

Jan. 13

12:10 a.m.: Curtis R. Reynolds, 34, of Seligman, was arrested after officers responded to a fraud/deception call at a business in the 200 block of West Broadway Boulevard. Two clerks had received a counterfeit $20 bill in exchange for merchandise. Reynolds was identified as the suspect and arrested on an Arkansas warrant. Charges of felony fugitive from justice and felony possession of a controlled substance have been requested.

9:43 a.m.: Cosas W. Hoskins, 32, unknown address, was arrested after police responded to the 900 block of West Third Street for a disturbance. Hoskins was arrested for first-degree burglary, fourth-degree domestic assault, and violation of a full protection order. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges. 

5:45 p.m.: Michael A. Etter, 30, of the 1300 block of South Harrison Avenue, was arrested after an officer responded for a physical domestic disturbance. After making contact with the suspect and the victim, the primary physical aggressor was determined. Etter was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of third-degree domestic assault.

Incidents

Jan. 8

1:47 a.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of an assault. A victim reported two subjects known to him approached and began hitting him. The suspects fled the scene and were not located. The victim sustained a minor injury.

7:47 p.m.: Officers responded to the 300 block of West Third Street to take a report of a possible physical domestic incident. A juvenile said he was assaulted by a man known to him before school. On further investigation, the incident did occur, but no injuries were present. No charges are being filed at this time. 

Jan. 12

4:55 p.m.: Officers responded to the 200 block of South Harrison Avenue in reference to a theft. A juvenile reported a go-kart stolen from a residence in the area. The value of the go-kart was estimated at $100. The go-kart and juvenile were located and the go-kart was returned to the owner. A report was forwarded to the Pettis County Juvenile Office.

5:08 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the area of 14th Street and Missouri Avenue in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Contact was made with a white Chrysler 300 at Vermont Park matching the description. The odor of marijuana was detected and the suspect admitted to having marijuana. The contraband was seized and a probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle. Additional marijuana-related paraphernalia items were located. The occupants were both juveniles and were released to an adult at the scene. A referral will be sent to the Pettis County Juvenile Office.

Incidents

Jan. 12

6 p.m.: A deputy was dispatched to the 1300 block of East Boonville Road for a theft report. The victim stated items were stolen from a trailer. Two male subjects were questioned and charges are being submitted to the state prosecutor for second-degree burglary and stealing. 

Jan. 14

6:18 a.m.: Deputies responded to the 3000 block of Brooking Park Avenue and took a missing person report.

Arrests

Jan. 14

6:38 a.m.: Jeffrey L. Lewis, 45, Jefferson City, was arrested in Moniteau County for driving while intoxicated - prior offense, driving with a suspended driver's license, and careless and imprudent driving involving an accident. He was transported to the Moniteau County Jail and placed on a 12-hour hold.
