This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Jan. 12

5:53 p.m.: Scotty J. Franklin, 43, of Sedalia, was arrested in the 400 block of North Grand Avenue for first-degree trespassing. An officer responded to a report of trespassing in progress.

Jan. 16

6:26 p.m.: Randall L. Garkie, 55, of the 500 block of Fifth Street, was arrested in the 1000 block of East Third Street for driving while intoxicated. An officer responded to the area of East Third Street and South Summit Avenue for an accident report. The caller said he crashed into a home’s porch and was intoxicated. The suspect left the area prior to the officer’s arrival but he was located at his home a short time later and arrested following an investigation. He was taken to SPD where he provided a breath sample that showed her BAC above 0.08.

Jan. 17

2:19 a.m.: San Juanita Mendoza, 30, of the 600 block of East Broadway Boulevard, was arrested near the intersection of East Broadway Boulevard and South Massachusetts Avenue for driving while intoxicated. A traffic stop was conducted for a vehicle speeding and failing to maintain its lane. The officer detected the odor of intoxicants coming from the driver’s breath. During the investigation, it was determined she was intoxicated. She was arrested and taken to SPD where she provided a breath sample that showed her BAC above 0.08.

Jan. 18

10:34 p.m.: Brian Eugene Tripp, 33, of the 600 block of West Third Street, was arrested near the intersection of East Ninth Street and South Ingram Avenue for resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and a warrant. A traffic stop was initiated for a vehicle with no front registration and registration that did not match the vehicle. The passenger fled and officers pursued him. He was apprehended after a foot pursuit.

Incidents

Jan. 15

1 p.m.: A victim in the 900 block of East 14th Street reported someone shot their two vehicles with a pellet gun overnight.

Jan. 18

9:03 a.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 300 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of someone using a counterfeit $20 bill. The reporting party found the bill when she was counting money and believed it was used the night before.

11:21 a.m.: A firearm and a jacket containing the victim’s personal information were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 800 block of La Grand Drive.

2:56 p.m.: A cellphone was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 1400 block of South Stewart Avenue.

Jan. 18

9:45 p.m.: Matthew A. Estal, 44, of Jefferson City, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated and failure to yield to right of way.
