This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Jan. 20

7:44 a.m.: Jeremy G. Hood, 44, of the 1800 block of Warren Avenue, was arrested after an officer responded to a domestic disturbance. Contact was made with two subjects and Hood was determined to be the primary physical aggressor. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and charged with fourth-degree domestic assault.

11:02 p.m.: Hannah Cassels Meyer, 25, of the 800 block of Manor Court, was arrested after a vehicle stop at South Grand Avenue and West 32nd Street for speeding. Cassels was intoxicated by drugs and she was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released for driving while intoxicated-drugs and excessive speed.

3:57 p.m.: Betty Jo Gillespie, 73, of Sedalia, was arrested after an officer responded to the 500 block of East 13th Street for a subject trespassing. The building owner asked the subject to leave the property as he believed she was disrupting business. She refused and was transported to the Pettis County Jail, charged with first-degree trespassing, and placed on a 24-hour hold.

Jan. 21

6:04 a.m.: Larry David Hopkins Jr., 51, of the 1300 block of East Boonville Street, was arrested after an officer responded to a business in the 1600 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a disturbance. Hopkins had a Pettis County warrant and resisted arrest. After a brief struggle, officers were able to subdue the subject and place him in handcuffs. He was in possession of methamphetamine and was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of felony resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also booked on the warrant.

1:50 p.m.: Jonathan Derrick Shellhart, 37, of the 3200 block of South Park Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop at South Grand Avenue and West 10th Street for an improper turn and failure to maintain a lane. Shellhart was transported to the police department, booked for driving while intoxicated, and released to a sober person.

7:45 p.m.: Jesse James Snell, 35, of Versailles, was arrested after an officer responded to a business in the 100 block of Rebar Road for a suspect who was trespassing. Snell had just been issued a trespass warning but came back onto the property as soon as law enforcement left. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail for first-degree trespass and placed on a 24-hour hold.

11:47 p.m.: Juan M. Marcos Herrera, 30, of the 1900 block of West Fifth Street, was arrested after a traffic stop near the intersection of South Quincy Avenue and West Fourth Street. Herrera was intoxicated and was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked for driving with a suspended license and driving while intoxicated - prior offender. He was released to a sober adult.

Jan. 22

4:29 a.m.: Isaiah Blaine McNeil, 20, of the 1100 block of South Lamine Avenue, was arrested after an investigative traffic stop at East Main Street and South Ohio Avenue on a vehicle whose registered owner had a revoked driver's license. McNeil was transported to the Pettis County Jail for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked driver's license.

12:39 a.m.: David E. Wright, 55, of the 2400 block of Golf Drive, was arrested after being stopped at South Kentucky Avenue and West Broadway Boulevard for failure to maintain a lane and weaving. Wright was intoxicated and was transported to the police department, booked for driving while intoxicated, and released to a sober person.

Incidents

Jan. 20

2:25 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft report. Asset protection associates stated a woman came into the store and used old receipts to do a fraudulent return. She then left with gift cards for the items she did not pay for and has yet to be identified.

6:46 p.m.: A subject came to the Sedalia Police Department to report a theft from their vehicle. They stated that sometime during the day, their unlocked vehicle was entered and a purse with contents was stolen. The subject could not determine the timeframe or location of the theft.

7:38 p.m.: A subject from the 800 block of West Fifth Street came to the police department lobby to document unusual happenings inside their residence. Information was collected and a report was taken for documentation purposes.

Jan. 21

8:45 p.m.: A vehicle was reported stolen from the 300 block of East Chestnut Street. The victim wants to pursue charges.

1007 p.m.: A subject turned in a cell phone from the 1000 block of Thompson Boulevard to the police department. It was placed into evidence as found property.

Jan. 22

11:38 p.m.: A motor vehicle accident was reported at West Broadway Boulevard and Grand Avenue. A vehicle had left the roadway, damaging a street light pole and disabling the vehicle, which was found parked in a nearby driveway. The occupants had fled and it was towed from the scene. MoDOT was contacted to assess the damaged light pole.

Arrests

Jan. 21

12:04 a.m.: Timothy Klein was arrested after the K-9 unit conducted a traffic stop in the area of 14th Street and Marvin Avenue. Klein was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

9:08 p.m.: John W. Bryan was arrested after the K-9 unit conducted a traffic stop in the area of 24th Street and New York Avenue in Sedalia. Deputies were given consent to search and uncovered a glass pipe and a baggie of a crystalline substance. Bryan was transported to the Pettis County Jail pending charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

10:44 p.m.: Raul Augustine Pasqual was issued a citation after a deputy observed a vehicle driving the wrong way on U.S. Highway 50 from Pleasant Green Road in La Monte. Deputies were able to get the vehicle stopped at the Crystal Springs crossover and Pascual was found to have no driver's license. He was released to a valid driver with a summons.

Incidents

Jan. 17

9:44 a.m.: Deputies were dispatched to the 11000 block of Stokely Road for a report of a stolen farm trailer. The incident is being investigated.

7:01 p.m.: A deputy was dispatched to the 500 block of East Walnut in Sedalia for a report of a theft that took place in the 1500 block of Crestview Drive. The reporting person stated someone entered his residence and took several items.

Arrests

Jan. 20

10:45 a.m.: Brandon L. Ede, 29, of Columbia, was arrested in Pettis County for a Pettis County Sheriff's Office arrest warrant, driving with a suspended driver's license, no insurance, and no seat belt. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail.

4:30 p.m.: Jovanna E. Eberting-Adam, 44, of Malta Bend, was arrested for a Saline County felony warrant, failure to register a motor vehicle, and no insurance. She was transported to the Saline County Jail.

9:56 p.m.: David A. Fisher, 36, of Knob Noster, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, speeding and a lane violation. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.

11:57 p.m.: Saul A. Melgur, 51, of Kansas City, was arrested in Saline County for driving while intoxicated, no valid driver's license, and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. He was transported to the Saline County Jail and released.

Jan. 21

2:18 a.m.: Richard B. Perkins, 19, of Higginsville, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, speeding, displaying the plates of another vehicle, and unapproved tail lamps. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.

Jan. 22

11:45 p.m.: Brandon M. Mencik, 41, of Kansas City, was arrested in Johnson County for felony possession of a firearm, felony tampering with a motor vehicle, and driving with a revoked driver's license. He was transported to the Johnson County Jail and released.

11:49 p.m.: India R. Jones, 31, of Lee's Summit, was arrested in Johnson County for tampering with a motor vehicle. She was transported to the Johnson County Jail and released.
