This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

July 11

12:34 p.m.: Brandon L. Kelch, 32, of the 21000 block of Saline Street, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 500 block of South Limit Avenue in reference to a domestic assault. The suspect was upset and hit a man known to him in the face twice with an open hand. This occurred in a traveling vehicle, however, the driver pulled over and someone called 911. Kelch jumped out of the vehicle and left the scene. Officers located him a short time later and arrested him for third-degree domestic assault and transported to the Pettis County Jail. 

11:01 p.m.:  Darvin T. Lessoy, 27, of the 2400 block of West Main Street, was arrested after police responded to a possible kidnapping where the reporting person was following the vehicle. Contact was made with everyone involved and it was determined that a domestic violence assault had occurred. Property damage had also occurred as a result of the disturbance. The primary physical aggressor was determined to be Lessoy. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of fourth-degree domestic assault, driving with a suspended license, an outstanding failure to appear warrant, and property damage.

July 12

1:24 a.m.: Austin Kenlee Bale, 24, of the 500 block of Missouri Avenue, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 700 block of North Grand Avenue for a reported theft incident. Bale was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, charged with stealing, and placed on a 24-hour hold. 

Incidents

July 11

9:45 a.m.: Officers responded to the 300 block of East Chestnut Street in reference to a runaway juvenile. The reporting party stated his stepson had not been home since the morning of July 10. The juvenile was entered into the system as a runaway.

12:54 p.m.: A call was received from the Fremont California Police Department requesting a DNA sample regarding one of their missing person cases. The sample was obtained and sent to the appropriate agency. 

2:30 p.m.: A victim came to the lobby of the police department to report her food stamp card had been stolen from the front console of a vehicle. The PIN had been changed and unauthorized purchases for nearly $240 were made. There are suspects and the victim is requesting prosecution.
