This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

June 30

1:28 p.m.: Sebastian Littlefield, of Marthasville, was arrested after officers were made aware of a theft that occurred at a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard. A subject fraudulently returned an item to the store then left on foot. The suspect was located in the 900 block of Mitchell Road by a detective with the Crime Resolution Unit. Littlefield confessed to the crime and was issued a municipal summons. 

6:48 p.m.: Michael James Tackett, 43, of the 1300 block of East Fourth Street, was arrested after officers responded to the 1300 block of East Fifth Street for a report of an assault. A victim stated a neighbor reportedly came onto his property and began beating him. The victim sustained several injuries but refused treatment. The suspect fled the area but later turned himself in on the assault charge and was booked and released from jail. A charge of third-degree assault is being referred to the Pettis County prosecutor. 

July 1

12:24 a.m.: Koley Wyatt Havard, 23, of the 3500 block of South Grand Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop for pulling out in front of the officer at 3000 block of South Limit Avenue, nearly causing a collision. The driver was intoxicated and Havard was arrested, transported to the Sedalia Police Department for processing, then released with a court date. 

Incidents

June 29

5:12 p.m.: An officer responded to the 1200 block of Osage Avenue for a physical domestic disturbance involving a juvenile. At the parents' request, the juvenile was transported to the hospital to be evaluated. A juvenile referral was completed. 

6:16 p.m.: A victim came to the police department to report that between July 2021 and September 2021, property was purchased in the 700 block of West Fourth Street for an amount over $1,000. The victim would later learn the original property owner couldn't sell the property because of a pending civil issue.

9:38 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a domestic disturbance. Contact was made with two subjects inside of a vehicle and it was determined that a verbal altercation had occurred. During the incident, the suspect took a cell phone belonging to a juvenile and completely destroyed it, rendering the device unusable. It was valued at $1,000. Charges of first-degree property damage are being sought.

June 30

9:06 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the police department lobby for a report of illegal dumping. The complainant said that on June 29 someone dumped a load of drywall in the alley south of the 300 block of West Cooper Street. The investigation is ongoing. 

10:26 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 800 block of Winchester Drive for a report of forgery. An employee stated around June 21 someone stole a check for $1,122 and cashed it. There are no suspects at this time.

June 30

10:31 p.m.: John T. Campbell, 46, of Lexington, was arrested in Henry County for driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana. He was transported to the Henry County Jail and released.
