This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

July 13

8:54 a.m.: Justin D. Wollery, 35, of Sedalia, was issued a summons after officers were dispatched to an organization in the 1400 block of South Limit Avenue in reference to a harassment report. The caller said Wollery threatened them. A municipal court summons was issued for public peace disturbance. 

July 16

10:06 p.m.: Daniel L. Forbes, 64, of Smithton, was arrested after an officer was dispatched to a hit-and-run accident that occurred near East Broadway Boulevard and South Massachusetts Avenue. While en route, the officer spotted a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect. A traffic stop near South Engineer Avenue and East Ninth Street was initiated. The driver admitted to being in an accident. It was determined he was intoxicated. Forbes was arrested and provided a breath sample that showed his blood-alcohol content over .08%. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked for driving while intoxicated-persistent offender and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

1:14 p.m.: Cornelius Antwane Read, 37, of the 400 block of Buckner Court, was arrested after a traffic stop on a vehicle in the vicinity of East Third Street and South Engineer Avenue. Read was found to have a suspended license and was arrested. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released.

11:28 p.m.: Camilo Pascul, 18, of the 300 block of North New York Avenue, was arrested after officers were dispatched to a disturbance. The caller stated an 18-year-old male known to her had come home intoxicated and caused a disturbance. The altercation was physical but the officer was unable to determine the primary physical aggressor. The male subject was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, and placed on a 24-hour protective custody hold. 

July 18

3:16 a.m.: Marquoi D. Staten, 29, of the 600 block of North Quincy Avenue, was arrested after officers responded to a disturbance involving a male and female. During the course of the investigation, the male subject became uncooperative and would not follow the officer’s instructions. He was arrested for failure to obey and transported to the Pettis County Jail The suspect was placed on a 12-hour protective custody hold pending sobriety.

Incidents

July 12

7:51 p.m.: Officers took a report of identity theft in the SPD lobby. The reporting party stated a man known to him was using his information at different banks to get money. The investigation is ongoing.

July 13 

2:42 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 3100 block of West 10th Street for property damage. The complainant stated their ATM had been damaged sometime in the past week.

4:18 p.m.: An officer assisted the Department of Social Services Children's Division in removing two juvenile subjects from a residence in the 200 block of East Engineer Avenue. The children were removed without incident and taken into protective custody of the Children's Division.

6:55 p.m.: Officer took a report in the SPD lobby in reference to harassment. The complainant stated they were being harassed online.

July 16

1:50 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the SPD lobby in reference to a forgery. The complainant believes paperwork regarding a family member's property was forged.

4:20 p.m.: An officer took a report of theft of a license plate for a trailer. The license plate was entered into the system as stolen.

5:59 p.m.: Emergency crews responded to the 1900 block of South Grand Avenue in reference to an injury accident. Investigation revealed that a small child emerged from behind vehicles and was struck by a northbound Chevrolet pickup. The child sustained injuries and was transported by Pettis County Ambulance District to University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. There was no impairment detected regarding the driver. This crash remains under investigation and witnesses are encouraged to contact the SPD Traffic Unit at 660-826-8100.

10:02 p.m.: Officers took a report for leaving the scene of an accident. The victim stated he was sideswiped while pulling into a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard. The other vehicle fled the scene and was not located.

July 17

12:01 a.m.: Officers responded to the 1300 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a disturbance. The victim stated that a female suspect broke into the residence and stole some items. The suspect has been identified but no contact has been made.

12:55 a.m.: Officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of West 20th Street and South Carr Avenue for a registration violation. The driver was found in possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges will be referred to the prosecutor's office.

9:32 p.m.: Officers responded to the 1900 block of West 10th Street in reference to property damage. The victim said they returned to the residence and found damage to the front door. The suspect did not make entry into the residence and has not been identified. 

8:41 p.m.: Officers responded to the 900 block of South Kentucky Avenue for a report of a domestic disturbance. The male suspect had fled the scene and has not been located. Charges are being submitted to the prosecutor.

July 18

4:29 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1400 block of South Carr Avenue. The caller said he was assaulted by a male known to him in the garage. The officer attempted to make contact with the other party but he had left the scene. No arrests have been made at this time.

10:41 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of East Sixth Street for a report of gunshots. Officers made contact with several citizens in the area and searched the area but could not find any evidence of gunshots. They discovered evidence of illegal fireworks being shot off in the same area.

11:56 p.m.: An officer met a victim in reference to property damage. The victim stated that her rental vehicle was damaged while parked in a business parking lot in the 4000 block of West Broadway Boulevard. It's unknown what caused the damage. At this time, there is no suspect information.

Arrests

July 18

12:34 a.m.: Scott W. Mathis, of Cole Camp, was arrested after a traffic stop in the area of Graham Drive and Clinton Road for failure to display plates. During the traffic stop, the driver threw a crystalline substance out of the window. Mathis was arrested for driving with a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance, and tampering with physical evidence.

12:41 a.m.: Jeffrey Comer was arrested in the 5000 block of West 32nd Street for attempted stealing and possession of marijuana. Comer also had an outstanding Howard County warrant for failure to appear on traffic charges.

Arrests

July 17

12:25 a.m.: Enrique Garcia Balderas, 44, from California, Missouri, was arrested in Moniteau County for driving while intoxicated-prior offender, careless and imprudent driving involving a crash, no valid operator's license-second or third offense, and a misdemeanor California Police Department warrant for traffic offense. He was transported to the Moniteau County Jail. 

1:58 a.m.:  Justin E. Watring, 35, from Syracuse, Missouri, was arrested in Morgan County for operating a vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner resulting in an accident, failure to register a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle without maintaining insurance, and driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Morgan County Jail.
