This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

July 27

2:50 a.m.: James Don Richmond, 39, of Independence, was arrested after officers were dispatched to a disturbance with a weapon in the 200 block of South Missouri Avenue. Officers were advised the suspect had left the area in a vehicle and were able to stop the vehicle a few blocks away. Richmond was arrested and formally charged with armed criminal action, third-degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon.

Incidents

July 21

10:28 p.m.: Members of the SPD's Crime Solution Unit received information of criminal activity at a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard. Information was that an individual was using and possessing illegal drugs. Unit members made contact with an individual renting the room, who admitted to possessing items associated with drug activity. The items were received as evidence. The individual wasn't arrested at the time due to health issues, but formal charges are being requested from the Pettis County Prosecutor's office. 

Incidents

July 24

6:30 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the Bothwell Regional Health Center Emergency Department for a report of an assault. The reporting person stated she was assaulted by a person known to her. 

July 26

12:37 p.m.: The manager of a business in the 800 block of East Broadway Boulevard called in reference to a theft. They stated that a male suspect came into the store on July 25 and stole alcohol. Video evidence was recovered of the theft. The suspect has not been located at this time.

3:55 p.m.: An officer took a report of theft and use of a debit card that occurred on May 24. The investigation continues.

Arrests

July 23

9:57 a.m.: Charla L. Malbrew, 51, from Grand Terrace, California, and Amber K. Kirk, 39, of Moreno Valley, California, were arrested in Saline County for felony possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. They were released.

July 24

12:29 a.m.: Angela S. Johnson, 37, of Kansas City, Missouri, was arrested in Saline County for felony driving with a suspended license. She was released.
