This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

July 27

11:47 a.m.: David Matthews, 28, of the 1200 block of East Ninth Street, was arrested after officers were dispatched for a domestic disturbance. Investigation revealed one of the parties tried to choke the other. Matthews was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 12-hour hold pending the filing of a second-degree domestic assault charge.

9:54 p.m.: John Michael Blymiller, 52, of the 900 block of Winchester Drive, was arrested after officers were dispatched in response to an intoxicated subject threatening someone. The officer spoke with the caller, who said the subject had been yelling and screaming at her as well as threatening her with a baseball bat. Blymiller was arrested and charged with fourth-degree domestic assault. 

10:57 p.m.: Ezra Jackson Greene, 22, of the 1600 block of East Fifth Street, was arrested after officers observed a vehicle with no plate lights. A traffic stop and a computer check showed the driver had a suspended driver's license and Greene was placed under arrest, issued a citation, and released from the traffic stop. 

Incidents

July 23

4:55 p.m.: Officers responded to the 1200 block of West 11th Street in reference to a possible disturbance. A father and son got into a physical altercation and a report was forwarded to the juvenile office.

July 27

10 2 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business in the 1200 block of South Limit Avenue for a report of a possible overdose. Officers located one unconscious, barely breathing male subject who appeared to be actively overdosing on an opioid and was in possession of narcotics. They deployed Narcan nasal spray and the male subject woke up. EMTs arrived and the man was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for treatment. Charges will not be requested for the narcotics possession.

6:27 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to East Broadway Boulevard and South Harding Avenue for a hit-and-run accident. The victim stated he was driving east on Broadway when he began to slow to turn north onto South Harding Avenue and was struck in the rear by a gold-colored Chevrolet TrailBlazer. The other driver drove away from the scene and has not been located. 

7:58 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 200 block of North Ohio Avenue for a report of property damage. The glass door had been forced open, yet nothing was reported stolen. Video showed two suspects breaking the glass door, entering the store, looking around then leaving. Damage to the front door is estimated at $400. There are no suspects at this time. 

3:33 p.m.: An officer spoke with a caller who wished to report a theft that occurred in the 1000 block of South Lamine Avenue. The suspect is still unidentified.

Incidents

July 27

8:30 p.m.: A deputy was dispatched to the 21000 block of Saline Street in Pettis County for a property damage report. The victim stated a man known to her arrived at the residence intoxicated and wanted to talk. The victim said the conversation was going well until the man became upset and was asked to leave. He got in his car and took off at a high rate of speed, throwing gravel that chipped the back window of the victim's van parked in the driveway. The rear window had a quarter-size chip in it. The victim did not have a replacement cost and the suspect could not be located at the time of the report.

Arrests

July 28

12:40 a.m.: Rebecca R. Petree, 28, of Sedalia, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated. She was transported to the Johnson County Jail and released.
