This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Incidents

June 28

11:42 a.m.: An officer responded to a residence in the 1600 block of South Carr Avenue for a fraud report. The victim said he sent money to a person claiming to be a landlord to make a payment on a residence the victim was going to move into. The landlord was a fraudulent person and did not have any claim to the residence. The victim wished to pursue charges.

July 4

6:39 a.m.: An officer responded to Liberty Park, 1500 W. Third St., for a property damage report. The officer met with a Sedalia Parks and Recreation Department employee who stated a door at Convention Hall had been shattered overnight. The door was valued at $600. A suspect has not been located.

10:04 a.m.: Officers responded to Clover Dell Park, 5301 W. 32nd St., in reference to property damage. Someone attempted to break into a shed on the property and about $1,500 in damage was caused. It did not appear that the subject(s) made entry into the shed and nothing was reported missing. There are no suspects at this time.

10:46 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of South Sneed Avenue for a property damage report. Officers spoke with the caller who said someone attempted to pry open her driver’s side door, causing damage to her car. The damage occurred between 8:30 p.m. July 3 and 8:45 a.m. July 4.

10:15 p.m.: A victim reported his vehicle was struck by another vehicle at 24th Street and Clinton Road and left the scene. The victim followed the suspect to the city limits and obtained a license plate number. Later in the evening, the Missouri State Highway Patrol contacted and identified the driver. A charge of leaving the scene of an accident is being submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutor’s Office.

July 5

7:42 a.m.: Officers took a report in the SPD lobby in reference to a missing person. The subject was last seen around 9:18 a.m. July 4 at Bothwell Regional Health Center, 601 E. 14th St. The subject was entered as a missing person and has not been located.

12:04 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business in the 2200 block of South Limit Avenue for a vandalism report. Officers were told someone drove through the parking lot around 10 p.m. July 3 and threw eggs, hitting an enclosed trailer parked on the lot. The case is under investigation.

2:48 p.m.: An officer responded to the 100 block of West Sixth Street for a property damage report. The reporting party stated that she parked her car at 7:45 a.m. to go to work. She was notified at 2:45 p.m. that the rear window on her 2017 Toyota Rav 4 was broken. She estimated the damage at $1,000. There are no suspects at this time.

10:10 p.m.: SPD took a property damage report in the 600 block of South New York Avenue. After an investigation, it was determined the damage occurred in the later afternoon or early evening July 5. It is not clear how the damage occurred. The value of the damage is about $100.

July 5

7:55 p.m.: Jesus Ubaldo Quetzecua, 26, of Sedalia, was arrested in Saline County for driving while intoxicated and a Sedalia Police Department misdemeanor warrant.
