This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

June 15

2:02 a.m.: Emery Nicole Shipley, 24, of Houstonia, was arrested after a traffic stop in the 1600 block South Limit Avenue. The registered owner was not present in the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, Shipley was found in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Driver Levi G. Markes, 31, of Houstonia, was charged with four active warrants, three failure to appear–misdemeanor warrants, one failure to appear-felony warrant, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. 

3:50 a.m.: James Wesley Kramer, 33, of Warsaw, was arrested after officers conducted a vehicle check in the area of East Ninth Street and South Garfield Avenue. The vehicle had previously been observed in motion but had pulled to the side of the road when the driver observed officers in the area. Contact was made with the occupants and the driver was discovered to have a suspended driving status. K9 Charlie responded to the scene where he provided a positive alert to the odor of illegal drugs. A search of the vehicle revealed the occupants were in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription pills, and drug paraphernalia. Kramer and the passenger, Cynthia R. Wilson, 22, of the 28000 block of McGee Road, were arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on 24-hour holds pending State charges of two counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession of marijuana, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. 

8:03 p.m.: James Lewis Wallace, 30, of Ionia, was arrested after a traffic stop in the 3500 block of South Limit Avenue for a moving violation. The driver of the vehicle was found in possession of methamphetamine and was arrested.

Incidents

June 14

8:40 a.m.: An officer responded to the 2000 block of West 14th Street regarding a theft no longer in progress. The reporting party stated items had been stolen from their front lawn during the night valued at $260.

2:01 p.m.: A social worker for Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City informed an officer at the SPD by phone that there was possibly a sex crime involving a minor that occurred in Sedalia in the 300 block of West Cooper Street.

4:17 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of East Sixth Street in reference to a burglary. The victim said that in the overnight hour’s someone broke into the home and stole various items.

11:06 p.m.: An officer responded to a theft no longer in progress at Liberty Park. The items stolen were valued at $250.

June 15

12:52 p.m.: Bryant Cortez Jackson, 38, of the 1000 block of West Seventh Street, was issued a summons after an officer responded to the 1000 block of West Seventh Street regarding a possible disturbance. It was determined claims of a physical disturbance were unfounded but marijuana was found in the residence.

3:27 p.m.: An officer responded to an assault with a weapon that had just occurred at a business in the 100 block of East 16th Street. Upon arrival, the suspect had left the scene. The suspect is known and charges are being submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutor.
