This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.
9:18 p.m.: Elias Gonzalez Valencia, 26, of the 1600 block of West Broadway Boulevard, was arrested after officers responded to South Warren Avenue and West Broadway Boulevard for a vehicle that struck a utility pole. Valencia fled on foot but was located and arrested for driving while intoxicated - prior offender, driving with a revoked license, and felony leaving the scene of an accident.
10:50 p.m.: Lewis Daniel Santiago Garcia, 49, of the 1500 block of South Kentucky Avenue, was arrested after a vehicle stop near West Broadway Boulevard and South State Fair Boulevard for moving violations and suspicion of being a suspended driver. Garcia was transported to the Pettis County Jail and booked on a 24-hour hold for driving without a license and driving with a revoked license.
3:28 a.m.: Tiffany Marie Hansen, 34, of the 300 block of South Hancock Avenue, was arrested after an officer was dispatched to 17th Street and Washington Avenue for a subject slumped at the wheel with the dome light on. Hansen was intoxicated by drugs and in possession of drugs. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of driving while intoxicated - drugs, first-degree drug trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
4:35 a.m.: Officers were working a potential theft that had just occurred in the 1600 block of East Broadway Boulevard when another subject arrived on scene and became confrontational. The subject, a sex offender, was observed operating a vehicle not registered under the subject’s offender registry as required by Missouri State statute. Charges are being requested for failure to register as a sex offender.
11:51 a.m.: A victim came to the police department in reference to identity theft. The victim reported her personal information had been compromised. She had applied for an online loan, but her bank verified the company was a fraud.
1:34 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a private property hit-and-run accident at a business in the 2700 block of West Broadway Boulevard. The occupant of a Buick LaCrosse stated she was inside with the driver's door open when a gray Jeep backed into the driver's door of the Buick and left. The driver's door of the Buick was damaged and would not close properly.
12:16 a.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 1100 block of South Limit Avenue for a potential counterfeit $20 bill. The business’ counterfeit machine would not accept the bill. No charges are being pursued, but the bill was seized for destruction.
