This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

June 19

2:16 a.m.: Jessica Yasmine Quetzecua, 29, of the 1800 block of South Montgomery Avenue was arrested after a traffic stop at West Broadway Boulevard and South Limit Avenue on a vehicle that was observed speeding. It was determined Quetzecua was intoxicated and she was transported to the Sedalia Police Department then the Pettis County Jail where she was booked and released to a sober driver pending a charge of driving while intoxicated.

June 20

6:29 p.m.: Robert D. Anderson, 29, of the 1700 block of East Fourth Street, was arrested after an officer observed a Ford Fusion run the stop sign at West 16th Street and South Kentucky Avenue. During a traffic stop at Moniteau Avenue it was discovered Anderson had a suspended driving status and he was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released pending a charge of driving with a suspended license.

June 21

1:37 a.m.: Joel E. Dake, 43, of the 2300 block of First Street, was arrested after a traffic stop at West Third Street and South Limit Avenue on a vehicle that was failing to maintain a lane. It was determined Dake was intoxicated and he was transported to the Sedalia Police Department then the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released to a sober driver pending a charge of driving while intoxicated.

Incidents

June 20

Noon: An officer took a report of a fight that occurred in Hubbard Park on North Missouri Avenue. The complainant stated that on Saturday around 6:30 p.m. his 13-year-old son had been in a fight with an unknown juvenile. He took his son to Bothwell but the extent of injuries were not determined at the time of the report. The suspect was not identified. Photos of the victim will be attached to the case. 

12:53 p.m.: An officer responded to the 700 block of East 24th Street for an assault report. The victim reported he had been assaulted by his father. He had visible injuries but refused medical treatment. A state charge of third-degree domestic assault is being requested. 

5:03 p.m.: Officers responded to Break Time, 808 E. Broadway Blvd., in reference to a theft. A suspect stole $2.99 worth of items from the business and left prior to the officers arrival. They were identified via surveillance video and charges were submitted to the Pettis County prosecutor.

8:35 p.m.: Officers conducted a joint investigation with the Missouri Department of Social Services regarding a report of alleged child abuse. Officers and DSS met with the family for the investigation and a report was completed. 

June 21

5:09 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Scott Joplin Court in reference to a disturbance. As officers arrived some of the parties attempted to leave the area. A male was contacted on Veterans Memorial Drive east of Scott Joplin Court who was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and a firearm that he claimed belonged to a resident of the house. The gun was placed into evidence for safekeeping and the marijuana was placed into evidence for destruction.

6:25 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the police department lobby in reference to a missing person report. A complainant from the 300 block of East Fourth Street stated her adult daughter was last seen Thursday at 10 a.m. Officers made contact with the individual at her home address and verified she was okay. 

9:05 a.m.: An officer responded to Spring Fork Lake, 24689 Spring Fork Lake Rd., for a trespassing report. A Sedalia water department employee stated bolts were removed from gate hinges and someone entered the property, closed due to an algae issue. At the time of the report a suspect has not been located.

9:09 a.m.: Officers took a  theft report in the 500 block of South Ohio Avenue. Four wheels and tires were stolen from the area valued at $180. No suspects have been identified. 

10:06 a.m.: Officers responded to Furnell Companies, 501 S. Ohio Ave., in reference to a possible ongoing scam. Someone was offering to rent an apartment and was requesting electronic payment to secure the apartment prior to allowing anyone to visit. The subject was likely attempting to scam people out of money for securing the apartment considering they had no authority to lease the building. At the time of the report no victims have been identified.

11:25 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to Asian buffet, 3406 W. Broadway Blvd., for a report of theft. The victim stated sometime between Friday and Tuesday someone forced entry into his vehicle and stole $3,860 in items and caused $500 in damage. There are no suspects.

3:14 p.m.: Officers responded to the 400 block of Wilkerson Street in reference to two stolen dogs. Two German Shepherds were reported to have been stolen from the residence with an estimated value of $3,000. No suspects have been identified. 

5:17 p.m.: Officers responded to the 1900 block of South Brown Avenue for a report of a stolen trailer. The caller stated that her utility trailer was stolen overnight. Information was collected and a report was completed. 

9:22 p.m.: Officers responded to Motel 6, 3402 W. Broadway Blvd., for a dog bite report. Information was collected and a report was completed.

Incidents

June 21

8:20 p.m.: A deputy was dispatched to the area of Westmoreland Road and North U.S. Highway 65 in Pettis County for a property damage report. Contact was made with the victim and a report for property damage was taken. The suspect could not be located.

Arrests

June 21

8:11 p.m.: Juan Irineo-Usus, 18, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated, no valid driver's license, and failure to maintain the right half of the roadway. He was transported to the Pettis County Sheriff's Department and released.
