Police Reports June 3

This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Incidents

May 26

4:17 p.m.: A referral was received from the Children's Division regarding a child sex crime committed by a juvenile. The matter was investigated and referred to the juvenile office.

June 1

7:39 a.m.: Officers responded to the area of East Fourth Street and South Engineer Avenue in reference to a small child wandering the area unsupervised. Bystanders stayed with the child until officers arrived. Employees with Washington Elementary assisted in identifying the child and locating his address. Officers arrived at the address and found the front door open with no one responding to the officer's calls. Officers cleared the residence and were able to locate siblings of the juvenile. No one was injured and or distressed, so the child was returned to the care of his family and a report was made to the Child Abuse Hotline. 

 8:18 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 3400 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of suspicious activity. Staff reported they found a machete left near the front door. The officer took the knife and placed it in evidence storage. The subject who left the item was not identified. 

10:15 p.m.: Officers responded to the 2900 block of West 11th Street for a juvenile smoking marijuana inside her mother's residence. When officers were speaking with the mother the juvenile exited the residence. A report was completed and the juvenile was entered into the system as a runaway.

Incidents

May 24

1:35 a.m.: Deputies took a report of harassment. The victims stated they had been receiving threatening messages through social media from an unknown male subject. A report was completed and an investigation into the matter continues.

7:30 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 21000 block of Saline Road for a report of an assault. When deputies arrived they investigated a possible assault that had taken place between a minor child and her mother. After an investigation on scene, deputies called the Child Abuse Hotline and a report was given to the Pettis County Children's Division for further investigation. 

May 28

7 p.m.: A deputy was dispatched to the 1500 block of Fairway Drive for a report. The victim stated that at 3 a.m. he heard a loud bang. When he got up for work at 6:45 a.m. and got into his 2018 Chevy truck parked in the driveway, the glove box was opened and there were papers laying on the passenger-side floorboard. The victim stated it appeared to him as somebody went through the glove box of the vehicle but nothing was taken. The victim wanted to make a report but did not wish to pursue any charges. 

7:25 p.m.: While on patrol in the area of Manila Road and South U.S. Highway 65, a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a black colored GMC Yukon for speeding. The driver was issued a summons for speeding.

June 2

4:29 a.m.: Deputies responded to the intersection of Highway 52 and Swisher Road in Windsor for a vehicle needing to be removed from the roadway. Deputies requested a tow and removed the vehicle.

9 a.m.: Deputies responded to the iron bridge on South Park Avenue for a vehicle needing to be removed from the roadway. Deputies requested a tow and removed the vehicle.

May 29

4:01 p.m.: Alisha M. Baty, 21, of Springfield, was arrested in Saline County for felony possession of a controlled substance. She was transported to the Saline County Jail and released.
