This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

March 8

5:44 p.m.: Joseph Dylan Edward Marquess, 23, of Kansas City, Missouri, was arrested after a motor vehicle stop at Broadway Boulevard and South Limit Avenue for a traffic violation. During the stop consent to search was requested and the passenger failed to obey lawful orders to exit the vehicle. He was subsequently arrested. During the search, items related to illegal drug activity were found concealed on his person. A probable cause search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of additional items related to illegal drug activity resulting in the driver, David Andrew Cechvala, 20, of Lawson, being arrested. Both driver and passenger were arrested and transported to Pettis County jail for processing and placed on 24-hour holds.

March 10

9:43 a.m.: Skyler Ray Martz, 36, of the 3100 block of Oak Brook Circle, was arrested after an officer noticed a white Lincoln in the fast lane of East Broadway Boulevard near South Merriam Avenue speeding. Radar confirmed the vehicle was speeding and the Lincoln was stopped. The officer performed a computer check through dispatch whereupon he learned the driver’s license was suspended from the state of Florida. Martz was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released.

8:40 p.m.: John M. Cary, 31, of the 1400 block of East 13th Street, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of East 13th Street for a reported domestic disturbance. Officers spoke with both parties involved and an investigation revealed that Cary, while in possession of a firearm, made threats to a female and put her in fear for her safety. He was arrested and transported to Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold. State charges of domestic assault, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon, and a habitual drug user in possession of a firearm are being requested.

March 11

2:09 a.m.: Lynette D. Ehlers, 39, of the 2100 block of West Third Street, was arrested after an SUV was stopped at West Broadway Boulevard and South Harrison Avenue for moving violations and no plate lights. Ehlers was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to the SPD headquarters for further testing. He was released to a sober person. 

3:26 a.m.: Larry D. Hundley, 46, the 700 block of Wilkerson Avenue, was arrested after officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance. A subject had an injury to her face but refused treatment. After the investigation, Hundley was arrested for domestic assault and transported to the Pettis County jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending a charge of third-degree domestic assault.  

Incidents

March 10

10:10 a.m.: An officer was dispatched a business parking lot in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard regarding a report of property damage. The victim stated that while they were inside the store, someone broke into their vehicle causing damage to the handle on the driver's door and stole $4 from the center console area. The victim stated that they wanted to pursue charges.

March 10

10:30 a.m.: Larry A. Holbert, 52, of Lincoln, was arrested in Benton County for felony failure to register as a sex offender.

2:30 p.m.: Derek B. Roberts, 41, of Clinton, was arrested in Pettis County for three counts of possession of child pornography.
