This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

March 16

12:11 a.m.: Rodrigo Chavez Mercado, 26, of Cole Camp, was arrested after officers initiated a traffic stop for a vehicle exceeding the speed limit. Chavez Mercado was found to be driving while intoxicated, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. He was booked for driving while intoxicated, driving without a valid license, and was released to a sober party. 

10:25 p.m.: Emilio Olivos, 18, of the 1500 Block of South Harrison Avenue, was arrested after an officer patrolling West Main Street and Winchester Drive observed a black Jeep make a wide turn onto Main Street, nearly striking a westbound car. A traffic stop revealed the driver was intoxicated by drugs and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. A search of the vehicle revealed two firearms, both of which had been reported stolen in Sedalia in 2020. The driver of the vehicle, Ebay Carlos Gonzalez, 18, of the 300 block of West 10th Street, was arrested for possessing the stolen firearms. The driver and the occupant were placed on 24-hour holds at the Pettis County Jail. Olivos has been charged with receiving stolen property and unlawful possession of a concealable weapon. Gonzalez has been charged with driving while intoxicated, drug possession, and operating a motor vehicle on a highway without a valid license. 

Incidents

March 16

8 a.m.: The Pettis County Children's Division notified the SPD of a possible sexual assault that occurred several years ago in the 900 block of West Gregory Lane. This case is still under investigation.

March 16

2:17 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of South Ohio Avenue regarding an assault that had taken place Friday night. The victim stated an unknown suspect had broken into her home and assaulted her. The victim did not want to press charges. 

March 17

1:47 a.m.: Officers responded to the 600 block of East 14th Street for a missing person report. The caller reported the subject was a white juvenile that ran northwest from the location wearing all black with green hair. He was not located by officers at the scene.

March 16

6:29 p.m.: Ethan L. Kellogg, 27, of Oak Grove, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated (drugs) and possession of 11-35 grams of marijuana.
