This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

March 2

5:31 p.m.: Ramon J. Alejo Romero, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested for driving while intoxicated, driving without an operator’s license, and assault after officers were dispatched to the 700 block of North Grand Avenue in reference to a motor vehicle accident with possible injuries. Both parties refused medical treatment and both vehicles were towed from the scene. During the investigation, it was also determined Alejo Romero shoved another party on the scene before law enforcement arrived.

March 5

12:01 a.m.: Charles Matthew Adams, 61, of the 1400 block of East 13th Street, was arrested after police stopped a car for no plate lights and moving violations. A check revealed Adams had a revoked license and was also intoxicated. He was transported to the SPD and then the Pettis County Jail to be booked on a 24-hour hold for felony charges of driving while intoxicated and misdemeanor driving while revoked.

March 6

9:40 p.m.: Zachary M. Nicholson, 34, of the 1000 block of South Harrison Avenue, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of West First Street for a subject refusing to leave the home. Officers arrived and the suspect continued to refuse to leave. The suspect was arrested for first-degree trespassing.

10:18 a.m.: Christian G. Weiszs, 30, of the 1800 block of South Sneed Avenue, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 4400 block of Wisconsin Avenue in reference to a theft that happened on Feb. 26 and Feb. 28. The complainant provided officers with a statement and photographs of the suspect and a list of items stolen was provided. Video footage of the theft has also been requested. A summons has been issued for the suspect.

11:37 p.m.: Deborah Lynn Bredehoeft, 57, of Green Ridge, was arrested after a traffic stop in the area of West 14th Street and South Limit Avenue for moving violations. It was determined the driver was intoxicated and she was placed under arrest. She was transported to the Sedalia Police Department for processing and then released to a sober person with a municipal charge of driving while intoxicated.

11:55 p.m.: Christine H. Horn, 28, of Green Ridge, was arrested after officers responded to the 700 block of North Quincy Avenue in reference to a trespassing call. Officers made contact with the suspect and it was determined Horn had two warrants. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail where the suspect's belongings were searched and a small bag of methamphetamine was found. A charge of possession of a controlled substance will be requested.  

March 7

2:07 a.m.: Christopher B. Batzel, 37, of Smithton, was arrested for third-degree assault after an officer responded to the 700 block of Winchester Drive in reference to a domestic assault. The victim stated that about an hour previously she was assaulted by a man known to her while they were in a car. The suspect was located, arrested, and placed on a 24-hour hold at the Pettis County jail. 

9:52 p.m.: Cristian Rodriguez, 24, of the 1100 block of East Broadway Boulevard, was arrested after officers initiated a traffic stop at East Broadway Boulevard and South Summit Avenue for no front plate. A check of Rodriguez revealed his Missouri license was revoked. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released on felony charges of driving without a valid license. The officer is also submitting a charge of driving with a revoked license to the prosecutor.

Incidents

March 6

12:54 a.m.: Sedalia fire and police responded to a business in the 600 block of West 16th Street for a structure fire. The structure was fully engulfed, but Sedalia fire quickly extinguished the blaze. The building appeared to be a total loss. The State Fire Marshal was called to the scene to investigate.

3:33 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Westwood Avenue for a report of property damage. The victim reported that someone known to her slashed all four tires on her vehicle. The suspect could not be located and the damage was valued at $787.32. A charge of first-degree property damage is being requested through the Pettis County Prosecutor’s Office.

9:08 p.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle for no lights near East Broadway Boulevard and South Massachusetts Avenue. The driver was found to have no valid operator’s license and the vehicle was searched based on the odor of marijuana. A marijuana pipe and two marijuana cigarettes were found and seized for destruction. The driver was released with a city ticket for no operator’s license.

10:15 p.m.: A traffic stop was inducted on North Limit Avenue near Eagle View Drive where a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were seized from the subject’s vehicle for destruction. No charges are being sought.

March 7

10:01 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 27000 block of Highway U regarding a burglary that had happened the previous day. Someone had entered the area and cut a lock with an approximate worth of $15. There is no suspect information available.

March 8

12:12 a.m.: Officers responded to the 900 block of East Seventh Street for a possible burglary. They made contact with the victim and determined a burglary had occurred and the victim wished to pursue charges. A report was made for offenses of first-degree burglary and stealing. Miscellaneous clothes had been taken with an approximate value of $700. No suspect was taken into custody.

Arrests

March 5

2:45 a.m.: Clorissa Michelle Youmans, of Sedalia, was arrested after a traffic stop was conducted near U.S. 65 and Tiger Pride Boulevard. During the traffic stop, Youmans was found to be driving with a revoked license. During a search of the vehicle, several prescription pills were located, and Youmans was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and driving with a revoked license. While at the Pettis County Jail she was found in possession of marijuana and several other prescription pills. Deputies are requesting charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession with the intent to deliver, and driving with a revoked license.

March 6

2:08 a.m.: Trenton Willis, of La Monte, was arrested after deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the area of U.S. 50 just west of state Route MM in Pettis County for displaying an improper license plate. Willis accelerated west on U.S. 50 at speeds over 120 mph but was finally stopped just east of Chevalier Road. Willis was arrested for driving while intoxicated, driving in a careless and imprudent manner, speeding, and resisting arrest. A passenger identified as Josiah Willis, of Sedalia, was arrested for possession of marijuana.

March 5

1:00 p.m.: A person came to the Sheriff's Office and reported she was scammed. She stated around 1 p.m. March 4 a subject identified herself as a representative of Any Desk. She stated she had just used Any Desk to help her fix a problem with her router. She stated the subject told her there was a problem with her payment and needed to get gift cards from Apple, Google, and Walmart to pay her bill. She stated she got the cards and sent them the information.

March 5

10:50 p.m.: Nola K. Davis, 28, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated.

11:58 p.m.: Blake D. Ripley, 21, of Holden, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated.

March 7

3:00 p.m.: Stormie L. Colette, 50, of Fenton, was arrested in Morgan County for possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana (prior drug offense), unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia-prior offense. 

4:00 p.m.: Devin R. Parish, 22, of Warsaw, was arrested in Benton County for felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of up to 32 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

9:27 p.m.: Samuel K. Peterson, 26, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated.
